Re: New FAQ is up
The low linear obstacle rules are a hornets' nest. Technically RAW, neither unit gets to make more than 1 attack due to not being in base contact. Intentional? Maybe. But we don't know because it's not exactly clarified. Maybe that's the trade off for Earthen Ramparts, you get all your attacks, but ...

Re: New FAQ is up
Doesn’t earthen ramparts make the unit count as if defending a low linear object? So then according to that entry, you don’t get stomps? Yeah, I personally agree with your interpretation, there's precedent for "unit counts as X" granting any boons that come with X, specifically "coun...

Re: New FAQ is up
The only real thing I see that could affect dragons would be having to include your wheels into your charge distance and not being able to stomp over real linear obstacles. Unless folks were really into that silly, bonus armor adds to regen/ward saves thing that they clarified. Important to note, t...

Re: A Proper Elven Host; Or, A Staunch Line of Spears
I was surprised (happily) that it "worked" always in int order. As it seemed very powerful. Originally I ran archmages with non ASL weapons then drank the kool-aid :D I removed many units with the cutter SD mage and felt kinda bad doing it so I hope this brings some parity if the hits are...

Re: A Proper Elven Host; Or, A Staunch Line of Spears
Yeah, I can totally understand that reasoning, it makes sense. You may very well have the right of it. It goes back to my original interpretation of how the spell worked, but a lot of noisy folks kept saying I was wrong in my interpretation.

Re: New FAQ is up
I have a sneaking suspicion that one of the upcoming Arcane Journals (hopefully the High Elf journal) is going to add magic items or spells that increase Ward/Regeneration saves. Or maybe it's just future proofing for something way in advance.

Re: New FAQ is up
I saw some comments online announcing the death of dragons with this faq, I don't really understand why. The main thing to me is the swiftstride clarification, and I already played it like this. Can you quote the folks saying this? Did they say anything to back the claim, or just a general, "D...

Re: A Proper Elven Host; Or, A Staunch Line of Spears
I'm like, 90% sure you're reading it wrong. I'm pretty sure it means that the spell is cast at the Wizard's initiative and is resolved at that point. But if the Wizard wishes to physically use a Strike Last weapon, it's still at initiative 1. The wording is cumbersome, but that's my reading of it.

Re: Arimies of Infamy special rules wishlist
Since a Nautical/Naval Army is all but confirmed, I'm hoping for the following: - Storm Weaver (lv.3/4 wizard) - Mist Mage (lv.1/2 wizard) - Merwyrm with T6 (0-1 Merwyrm per Storm Weaver or Mist Mage) - An additional Sea-themed Lore "Lore of the Mists" (This would probably be three new Sig...

Re: A Proper Elven Host; Or, A Staunch Line of Spears
I would replace the Phoenix Guard with Swordmasters (Drilled) since you already have a nice hefty anvil with the Sea Guard. You could also go the other way and try to make your Phoenix Guard your anvil, remove the Sea Guard and put more offense into your Core with more Silver Helm units.

Re: High Elf Magic Items Tier List
Personally I think it is overpriced trash - at most it should be 30 points. It is definitely overpriced, but "immunity" type effects can be really good, especially as meta improves and other armies get other tools. This is the item in the book I have to keep checking each time a new book ...

I'm going to dissent with the opinion that you should make a beginner-friendly list. If you want to play this game as sweaty as possible, and your goal is to get into tournaments because that's your favored way of playing, I say you jump into the deep end. The only problem you may run into is findin...

Re: Invocation of Nehek Rules Question
Funny enough, the banner is never captured unless the unit is run down or entirely destroyed in combat, which at that point, would not be eligible for having wounds reallocated to it via any means. So technically, as long as the champion is still standing, the standard bearer comes back with the ban...

That's a hell of a collection! I am not envious of having to look down the barrel of that painting list though. If you think a Sea Guard is weighted at a 2, wait until you get to the Ellyrian Reavers... those would probably rate a 4 or 5 on your scale. 104 models is more than reasonable, that's a ni...

Re: 1500 p - Loremaster BSB
I had a static combat res of 8 ( close order x 2, banner x2, warbanner, bsb, 2 ranks) and managed to save all wounds, so with the unstable VC I won the combat with 28-0 (and we even forgot about first charge which should have removed his 3 points from ranks). A reminder that you only ever claim +1 ...

It's a pipe dream of mine that GW will remake the Swordmasters into a kit that has some more dynamic posing like these. Your army is looking fantastic, can't wait to see it all arrayed on the field of battle once you have every single unit painted up. An auspicious start to the new year.

You may want to blend your resins or find one that isn’t as brittle. I’m part of a company that produces 3D printed miniatures, I can make a few recommendations if you’d like. What’s the company? It's called The Nailon Realm, it's a small independent studio that produces very whimsical miniatures a...

It only counts as the champion causing Terror, but that's all you need.BrushmasterOfHoeth wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 4:01 pm You could just put the cloak of beards on the champion in the dragon prince unit. I think it counts as the whole unit causing terror, but I am not sure.

Re: Griffon Prince builds
Without the dragon to deal S7 attacks, and the D6+1 S7 Stomps, the Ogre blade helps make up for the lack of offense from the Griffon. The main strength of the Prince on Dragon is the ability to safeguard the Dragon, which is the real offensive piece to that combination, with the high armour save and...

I'm toying around with a similar build for my Noble, I say you give it a shot. But if you're going to be facing things that crumble, you need to beef up your static combat resolution. Like Ielthan said above, War Banner and Battle Banner are going to be your best options for magic banners. Are 14 Ph...

As for Cloak of Beards -- yes it doesn't help with passing, but I'm more concerned with inflicting Terror than being resistant to it, particularly because of the -1 Leadership to the resulting combat. If you want to lean hard into competitive builds, I'd recommend a Lv.4 on Star Dragon, a BSB Noble on Griffon with Pure of Heart, and a Handmaiden general so you can build out your core with Sisters of Avelorn, arguably your best shooting unit that'll help bring down big monsters as well as scores o...

I'm also curious about the Lion Standard given our racial, and that you can put the Cloak of Beards on the Champion instead. Axiem I'm curious why you think the Cloak of Beards is an equivalent replacement for the Lion Standard. The Lion Standard makes a unit automatically pass Fear and Terror test...
