Re: High Elves Wave 2

If the price per model is comparable to the other boxes, Sisters/Shadow Warriors coming in boxes of 10 isn't a big deal at all. I actually wish they sold some of these in boxes of ten instead of 20+, I need like, 10 more White Lions, not 20 of them and I don't have other local High Elf players to sp...

Re: Cathay Confirmed!!!

This miniature range looks incredible. I’m decidedly not buying into it, but I am excited that GW has made something that strongly indicates they are all in on TOW. And that means continued rules support, FAQs, new journals, probably a second edition down the line, and hopefully model refreshes for ...

Re: Star Lance, Illusion Doppelganger

Prince of Spires is right, there’s really no room for any other interpretation. Attacks with a Strikes First weapon happen at Initiative 10, then Spectral Doppelganger is cast at the Wizard’s initiative (modified by charge bonuses), and is resolved at that Initiative step. The only way one of our ch...

Re: Reworking the High Elf Book Updated 22/03/25

While I like the Woodsman Axe rule, I think it’s far too clunky and inelegant for this edition. I don’t have an alternative though, I’d rather they just remove Strikes Last from the Chracian Greatblade and maybe drop their natural Initiative down a point. And I know I’m basically a broken record ove...

Re: Reworking the High Elf Book

Why not just add "If equipped with missile weapons, may fire in an additional rank" to Martial Prowess? The nerf to Phoenix Guard is wholly unnecessary if you're trying to help the book out.

I have to agree with a lot of the sentiment here. I was holding out hope for the journal doing something really good for us, but yeah, the math isn’t mathing for our lists.

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Thanks, I’m using Lychee, I’ve realized one big issue I’ve been having is resin temp, so I’m reworking supports currently, and removing a lot of them, and making the vast majority of them small so the supports come off with less damage. Once I get a version that works ~100% of the time for me, I’ll ...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Thanks for the kind words, folks, they are very appreciated. Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Ironing out some kinks with the 3D printer, I think I finally have the proper supports figured out to get the prints to 100%, this next test print will tell. Here are two painted up, scaled up from the first test, still some details that need exaggeration, I think I'll get around to that later this ...

Hot damn, that’s a grand collection! Great to see your progress so far. I’ve yet to attempt a battle bigger than 3,000 points, I can start to imagine something closer to 9-10,000. Would definitely need an extra table or two!

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Here are some shots with the model primed, and then painted to a basic tabletop standard to match my army. Definitely learning quite a bit about modeling for painting from this experience, as there are a few details that vanished in the print, namely the bands on the hilt of the sword. Looking at th...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

That looks great! The dynamic poses look awesome for display, but for gaming they can be a real pain. It will be difficult to make base contact with that unit if the swords protruding the footprint. Is the resin quite flexible? The prints I bought are brittle and spears explode if they touch someth...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Finally got a test print done for one of the Swordmasters, and it came out about 98% as expected, the back foot has a bit of a deformation, but I'll see if I can sort that out in the next couple of prints. I'll try and have this one painted up in the next couple of days! https://i.imgur.com/M49geSu....

Nice haul, I also bought into all the accessories, and it’s kinda frustrating about the cards, but oh well I guess. I wish I had picked up the Magic Lore cards when they were available. Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

A block in for the spearmen. These are currently closer to the current Lothern Sea Guard pose. I'm starting there since I can reference the miniature, and they'll make for decent rank and file. Then I'll pose them for the front rank, and I do want to make a few that are posed like the 4th edition sp...

Were you using manuscripts or HEMA tutorials for posing? I love how anatomically correct the models are. I've updated my post above, and now I'm closing in on the homestretch. Re: Ring of Fury

Not really. Or at least, remember that, per the FAQ, the weapons attributes dont affect the initiative order for casting spells. So while his regular attacks are strike last because of his axe, the ring is cast at his regular initiative. Which means that even if you didnt charge, you're casting it ...

Re: What to do with the Merwyrm

I'm just going to go back to 8th edition. As much as I'm going to enjoy just having the Merwyrm model in my grubby little hands, this editions just isn't great for High Elves. I realize we're middle of the pack in terms of win rates, and for a lot of folks, that's some kind of metric for some kind o...
