I heard there might be a revival.
The real issue seems economics and cents; the correct decision was to make it a computer game, since cannibalization may actually have been minimal.
The next would be visual media, which might drum up interest in the Old Worlde.

I think it's the other way around, since it does go way over the top, to the point of farce.
The problem will be when the corporate heads decide it has to fit in with whatever political correctness is currently in flavour, in any particular decade.
Hard to say if you can make it family friendly.

Re: Was Ancient Egypt a Nicer Place Than Ancient Mesopotamia?
Depends on the narrative. Mesopotamia was subject to constant volkerwanderung, and apparently a great deal of dissatisfaction with centralization of power. Egypt appears in contrast more stable, possibly because usurping dynasties took over the superficial trappings of the Egyptian culture, and like...

I've had a similar idea, that I never really developed, giving them a pop culture Sengoku Jidai vibe (though that would seem a rather obvious direction I would have taken). One thing that you can steal from Forty Kay is to give them masks, essentially Aspects of various cultish styles of martial arts.

We don't actually have cannon fodder, but in a multi army game, stick them behind one such allied unit along the likely avenue to advance by the opposition.
Anything that breaks through the screening unit is likely to regret it.

I doubt that Elves would go out of their way to create marshland, but it could mark the boundaries of their nations, making it operationally, or even strategically, inconvenient to use that route as an invasion axis. They might encourage it to develop. Ritual sacrifice in that manner sounds neutrali...

Like Game of Thrones, factions and geographical locations could be fleshed out, where Games Workshop either dragged their heels or were generally clueless.

Re: New DE background
The real question is why players cling to a background that they clearly disagree with, especially since it's been warped by a commercial entity that has hijacked the property from the originators. I know the reason I tend to follow company rules sets is because I'm too lazy to create my own, wouldn...

Re: Silly "Cannon" Fix
The rules surrounding cannons have always been too simplistic, with good reason.
Cannons could be accompanied by their manufacturer, and depending on how much skill he has and how much care he expended in making it, that's the chances it would go boom.

Re: Thor 2... Wut.
Could be derived from malechite, and in Warhammer's case, a portmanteau of malevolent kith. Certainly not unique: The wicked fairy was aptly named "Maleficent" (an adjective which means "doing evil or harm"). It also has the appearance of being a portmanteau of malevolent and mag...

Re: Interesting questions from a document on the Laurëlornalim
Problem with Elves is that most of it is guesswork. Natural selection should have ensured that a faster maturation took place than suggested, since requiring the adults to protect their progeny from harm for a century or more is asking quite a lot, assuming they have insufficient self-defense capaci...

Re: Nature of high elf ships.
If the ships were alive, they would have a regenerative function, which would mean that if damaged in combat, the navy policy would be to break contact, wait and start attritioning an enemy that can't get to a dry dock.
However, the Tenchi Muyo option would certainly be interesting.

Re: Do we need two phoenix kings?
If it's the Spartan/Roman model, the reason was both balance of power and in a war, span of control, as one King/Consul could be sent on a campaign, or if one dropped dead, the chain of command wouldn't be interrupted. While it's never seemed concretely outlined, this form of dual monarchy does exis...
