Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

SA, MoN, Thanks for the comments. There are a lot of points to unpack there and I think they're all essentially correct. The Empire army crammed itself into a tiny space and offered me charges. They paid off for me and let me steamroll into taking a big win with two whole turns still to go. What cou...

I read Seredain's battle reports and I think "Watch and learn..." So wha'ts happening next? MoN, I'll tell you! EMPIRE TURN 2 The great weapon knights charged the reavers before them. The demigryph knights, frustrated at the pave of their advance, took the opportunity to charge the flank ...

Re: 1500 pts HE tournament list (8ed)

Hi Jasker, Great list! Amazing ranged power at these points, great manoeuvrability and great punch. You’ll have a great ability to stand off and dominate enemy armies at ranged or quickly close in where the former looks like a losing strategy. Infantry core lists at these points might find themselve...

And from the October mists, a second report comes. Unfortunately some of that mist appears to have found its way onto my camera for this one. Apologies in advance! Jeez what a howler! That would of course change my approach this game... Well. I asked, so I feel no guilt.

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Tyrren, the army looks fantastic. It's great to see some real battle photos. I appreciate the balancing kids / minis problem... That's tricky. I suppose you could serialise your batreps. Like early Dickens novels. SA does this. I'm thinking about stealing the method myself so we don't end up with th...

Re: A New Blog

SA thanks for the write-up and again for a cracking game! We've discussed mistakes above but I don't think you made an howlers (except I guess fleeing your ItP general - which I didn't spot either!). Prince mentions the beasts' charge as questionable. At the time I myself felt that way because it op...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

Congrats with the win. A shame you ran out of time. I feel that with a 4th turn in there and all your heavy hitters still at full health you should have been able to table most of his army. I was surprised you went for the left flank with the dragon and phoenix. It felt like a very risky move to me...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

Chaps, Thank you for the comments! Food for thought here. The Chaos Dwarf list looks plausible, I just feel your opponent should have been able to squeeze an extra war machine in at 3000pts. The BSB absolutely should have had better protection and not the Banner of Slavery. I'm not sure what load-ou...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

A correction. In CD Turn 1, the wolf riders had charged my central reavers and ran them down. The elves took down two or three more riders before the end. HE Turn 2 My dragonmage lord and left-bird charged the enemy general’s unit, front and flank. The dragon touched the sorcerer lord and the phoeni...

Re: A New Blog

Guys,

That's exactly how I felt about it - I'd just lost 7 silver helms in a single turn! One rock lobba stood opposite my left flank, ready to snipe my prince or BSB. I fired everything I could into that machine and scored those two wounds. One more shot to go...

Re: A New Blog

Well, I can explain my deployment. SA put his war machines down early. So, I could deploy in such a way as to put impassible terrain in the way of some of the enemy war machines’ line of sight. Secondly, the piece of impassible splitting SA’s zone in two. They could anchor a flank on this piece, but...

Hi SA!

Indeed we had a good day. One slight correction: the second noble was as follows:

Noble - Lance, dragon armour, barded steed, Reaver Bow, Enchanted Shield, Luckstone, Other Trickster’s Shard - 176.

@MasterofNone - the lore I brought was High magic.

Re: A New Blog

SA, I really like the 2400 list. We’ve spoken before about the massive combat power you’ve got with your main unit and double trolls. The combined manglers and war machines is a lot of secondary DPS and floods the board with targets for enemy shooting / light units, too. We spoke before about the po...

Hi Fergie, I love the theme of your list. If only we had Total War’s Silverin Guard to flesh out those spearman armies! I echo what SA has said. I think Shadow is a more natural fit for you if you want to field big blocks of spearmen. They need to kill stuff or else your list will be leaning too hea...
