Re: Viability of Seaguard Death Star
I'm going to try out a unit of 30 with Razor Standard, Loremaster's Cloak and that's it. Use them as an elven shield for my other units. Your stand-and-shoot volley dreams will work great against monsters. Anything else I really don't know. It feels like a method of playing that needs poison shots a...

Re: Triple Dragon List (just because)
Hi Pash, Top list! I'm just building a Sun Dragon war banner BSB at the moment... nobles on dragons is the high elfiest thing ever. I think the top secret technology is having pieces which don't get ground under the wheels of skull cannons, daemon engines and steam tanks, which for me is the big pro...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
My man! Sir! I'm on holiday at the moment and spending it writing new armies following GW's assault on my Walk Between Worlds cavbus uber-cheese. You know what, I'm not even upset. Running people over with ghost knights is an easy way to kill everyone's hobby. Well I hope the holiday was good. I im...

Re: Lore of Saphery - worst in the game?
The more and more I am playing this game I have noticed I am never using any spells from the lore of Saphery. There have been times I've been close to swapping out for Vaul's Unmaking which I think is the best of the three, but 12 inch range makes it extremely situational and therefore I don't both...

Re: Assailments and Warden of Saphery
It seems like you're correct, though it feels like it shouldn't work... What I mean is that from the wording of assailments, it counts as an attack by the caster. It's made at the Initiative of the caster, ignoring any special rules from any weapons a character carries (which sort of makes sense, s...

Althran hail! Dude if the amount of focus you’ve piled into these models is in anyway indicative of the stress levels you encounter at work then must be one stressed worker. They’re absolutely outstanding. Beautiful work - thanks for sharing! I feel your pain with that dwarf game. Take solace from t...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
Interesting lists for sure. I like Warden of Saphery as an honour. The Sword of Hoeth, and Killing Blow special rules are wonderful for the price. I don't rate the Reaver Bow on a prince at all though (or on any other character really). The problem is that a Prince doesn't have the Arrows of Isha s...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
I had a match recently against a Bretonnian list where we had agreed we wouldn't bring any dragons to the fight, and so I fell back on the wisdom of the Cavalry Prince of 8th edition, and I wanted to report to you that it performed really well. Literally one data sample, but it was a good time. I e...

Re: A couple of takes on a High Elf "Goodstuff" list
I'm conservative so I hug the 2+ armour save close. You're right that the great weapon brings better utility. In most tournament lists I've seen that's what people take. I don't have the game experience to look past TWO UP SAVE TWO UP SAVE and the fact that the model has a lance, but absent counter-...

Hi Pash, Thank you for your very interesting write up(s). Tyrren, What a magnificent collection! You are my hobby hero. Beautiful. Also thank you for the battle report. That's an interesting idea NHB thanks for noting it. It makes sense. In my last game against SpellArcher's daemons I used MSU sisters as last-minute chaff. Now that mini foot squads can march miles, it's a strong idea! I'm getting pretty close to finishing my army, so I'll try the reavers first. Be...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
Apparently some shenanigans have been had with "Archer Darts" in some games. 5 naked Archers deployed in 2-2-1 @50pts, moving an impressive 15" on T1 You could swap one of the ERs to two Darts and have 5pts spare.... (and another drop) That's an interesting idea NHB thanks for noting...

. The Seaguard are my second secret tech in this ranged war. Whilst the sisters dance at range, the seaguard move up into the mid-board. If my opponent ignores them in favour of chasing after the sisters, they bring themselves into the seaguard's close range. If they shoot the seaguard, however, su...

Example of list for 1500point? Hi WhiteSword, In truth I haven't thought about 1500 at all. If I may I'll restrict myself to reiterating a general principle, being that it is usually better to do something well or else not bother investing in it. You don't want a "bit of everything" only ...

You pose a great question. I mean Holy Cow! The rubber really hits the road with that army of yours. For the moment it's a purely theoretical army 8) I drew it up as a thought experiment to see what you could face at 2500pts. Mainly because people mentioned that going higher in points meant fewer m...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
One thing I have been wondering about in the discussion about 2500pts, is that it also allows some nasty stuff to be brought along. You could go with a double star dragon list that includes 4 monsters and a bunch of hard hitting cavalry units. Something like ++ Characters [1247 pts] ++ Prince [491 ...

Master,
I am loving your paintwork. It's absolutely splendid.
Ogres had a bit of a hoodoo on me in 8th Ed. Enough that I began to develop an irrational dislike for the models. But these are so nice that I don't even think I'd mind watching them pound my silver helms to bits.
Bravo!
