Re: Favourite BSB builds?
I haven't gotten all my stuff together yet still, but I could see worrying about something like that. From my years of playing Warhammer Fantasy I just kind of accept all our elves die very quickly so I don't worry about it that much.

Re: Favourite BSB builds?
I am still looking at them as ways to buff troops they're inside of so one with a rasor standard for my seaguard or a battle banner for a big static combat rez troop block, etc.

Certainly seems like a very solid list! It'd be fun to hear how it performs for you. I'm a big fan of spearmen blocks.

Those old silver helms look awesome, especially so nicely painted. That banner must be a nightmare to transport!

Has anyone seen any current banners or transfers out there now with the Old World? I'm not going to pretend I can freehand some heraldry for these smaller banners.

Re: Warden of Saphery
Can you wear magical armor with a wizard? No, probably not. I don't even know how that would work. Your wizard might be able to wear the magical armor though! Well let's see what the rules say! :D When Ulthuan marches to war, the Swordmasters of Hoeth are led by the Wardens of Saphery, exemplars of ...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
The rule for charging skirmishes on page 186 says they have to charge the closest visible model..there you go for that one. I'm assuming you're talking about an open/close order unit charging a unit of skirmishers of course. Hot skirmisher on skirmisher action doesn't care about visibility per model...

Re: NOVA Open Comp Pack released
I was curious if they were actually still tethering it to bookface. XD They've got some kind of idea. Some of it seems odd. The character limit on a unit seems weird since there's already rules that kind of make mass hero spam in one unit not work very well. The detachments thing I think are kind of...

Oh it's Star Wars people claim Eragon is a rip of off? That's hilarious!
Star Wars is heavily inspired by Akira Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress, mixed with old Flash Gordon serials.
It's all heroes journey stuff which is even older of course.

Actually there's an explicit rule for the Battle Standard Bearer on page 203 of the Big Blue Book that the BSB can't be your general, so it'd default to the Archmage.

I think that looks like a nice list to start out with as you're getting experience. It's good to figure out the special choice infantry when your starting out. Sword masters are really fun. XD

Re: Battle Rep - Third Game of ToW
I think most people are on the drilled lets you redress before a charge that I've heard about. Haven't seen anyone going the other way on it. There's a generic specific triumphs over general rule in most games. Plus as you said the ability for a Marching Column to declare charges must have some thin...

Re: LOTS of Archers ?
Was just looking at it today actually. The idea being, if people complain shooting is weak well then they're obviously not taking enough shooting! The only thing that doesn't shoot in this army is either a bird or a horse. Roughly 73 shooting attacks, several with higher strength, many with some amo...

I apparently picked Charace by virtue of the colors I picked, but I put the Saphery symbols on my shields? But we're from a outpost really so I'm sure that's a big part of it. We're using what we've got in these trying times here in the Old World!

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
I would like to say that the idea that you cast a spell and then run your mage away to prevent dispel attempts is both cowardly and very unsporting. Remember this isn't 40k or Magic the Gathering. You should be enjoying a game with others, even in a tournament environment, and not be trying to win a...

Re: All cavalry army ?
It was at one time in WHFB one of the most competitive ways to run High Elves, which was what lead to them getting some silly army rules in newer editions. Now in the Old World it's less needed but it's still completely viable. Throw in some chariots too and you've got quite a fun, aggressive army t...

Well so far we know we've gotten like one old character and two new characters I've been told from my friend from the Arcane Journals that are out there already so I'm hopefully we'll follow suit. One named character of yore that fits being over in the old world and then some new characters with new...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
So the movement for falling back in good order is effectively fleeing which can cause a lot of trouble. Plus restraining from pursuit or following up is a leadership check so it's not something that one can always do. There's a lot of scenarios where doing one or the other is the better option. Yes,...

I think there is a limit to how far a character can go on that...
Oh, it's for challenges you have to be in the fighting rank or adjacent. So you'd have already moved the character.

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
The leadership test for the Horn of Isha is to attempt to use it, so if you fail you should be able to try again. It'd be unusual that failing an attempt to try to use something counts as using it somehow... >.> Any character can take a magical helm pretty much. Though it is armor so wizards are pro...

Re: Speculating/Wish listing on the High Elf Arcane Journal
I was hoping we'd get a Finubar model and some rules for him since he did so much traveling and so forth but I think we didn't go far enough back in the time line for that to really be the right era when he's sailing about. And I think it might be a little too early for Teclis and Tyrion to be in pr...
