Re: New FAQ is up
The only real thing I see that could affect dragons would be having to include your wheels into your charge distance and not being able to stomp over real linear obstacles. Unless folks were really into that silly, bonus armor adds to regen/ward saves thing that they clarified.

Re: New FAQ is up
Looks like a lot of nice, simple clean up of things. Lore familiar's can't get the racial signature spells at all. A nice clarification for mercenaries which should be fun for the new Empire character. The main HE entry for forces of fantasy is only: Q: Does the Martial Prowess special rule allow mo...

Re: Korhil leaks
I don't know what they've been packaged like, but I definitly remember a lot of old reprints for other armies including a non trivial amount of old reprints for limited times.
I don't want folks to be disappoined if it doesn't live up to thier expectations.

I'm sure they're going to reprint all the old models. Doesn't mean they're getting rules. Don't get too excited.

Re: Question regarding the General
It's all on page 203 of the character section. Your general should be the highest leadership character it can be. So you couldn't choose normally to have a Handmaiden be your general with a Noble in your army. However there are exceptions as a character with Loner and (normally) a Battle Standard Be...

Re: PG anvil with BSB
I think if you're going to make a loremaster for combat you'd be much better served using Battle Magic for its signature spell Hammerhand. A level 1 mage actually has a decend chance to get that spell off barring dispels.

Hmmm, well if you're going to have good targets to shoot the tousand papercuts route might be interesting. Elves have usually been too brittle to death star particularly well but I'd be interested to see how this goes.

Re: Will GW show love to the High Elves when Arcane Journal is released?
The Old World reminds me personally of sixth edition the most for high elves, where our infantry was expensive and elite but without step up or strikes first it was very easy to get charged and lose models so the meta became very noncannon calvery lists which we were punish for by losing core access...

I believe a popular thing to do is to give your prince The White Sword so they can roam around with four I9 monster slayer attacks.

Re: High Elf Arcane Journal - What do you want from it?
I haven't read them all but I don't think they've revised previously stated units in them before. Doesn't mean they couldn't of course, but I think white lions are just the odd one out until a new edition. Csjarrat - I don't think that solves their problem. It's the defense side that they're lacking...

Well you have your comp rules for your tournies. Glad to see them moving away from that rule of three trash for the next official one. Lord limits seem like a good way to encourage points to go elsewhere on paper.

Re: High Elf Arcane Journal - What do you want from it?
It's always like this. We've got the same three units and ones very suited to the current rules, one's okay and one ends up overointed for how the game works for the moment and isn't worth taking over the other two. White Lions are a very glass cannon unit suitable for fighting infantry which isn't ...

Re: High Elf Arcane Journal - What do you want from it?
I'd like to see a naval themed Army of Renown to represent the naval forces that would be in the area at the time would be the main thing I'd like to see. Some kind of high elf mage mercenary might be fun to see. I would personally want to keep Tyrion and Teclis out of it. They don't make any sense ...

Yeah, happy to help. I've seen this kind of discussion before. Not surprised that tournaments get the rules wrong or make bad decisions, they're run by people making mistakes like anyone else can. It's seriously just the most boring, basic definition of moved, but in other games there are other rule...

So, it's if it moved. There are no placed rules like in 40k. It's already got an FAQ clarification too. Movement Q: What constitutes a ‘move’? A: Quite simply, if you touch a model or unit and change its position in any way, it has moved. There are some exceptions to this, a war machine that pivots ...

Re: Elementalism
I personally like the lore, the spells seem to be very useful for helping high elves out. Everything except the flaming sword seems useful. Plague of Rust and Earthen Ramparts really seem useful for making our units get the initiative or get our damage through. That said while it's great to get your...

Unbreakable is very good but if you look at most of the lists people are running these days they don't have a unit to cast it on.

They've been T3 for so long now through so many editions. The new rules for mounts help out a lot with having some higher toughness heroes though.

Well if you're just asking for thoughts...You should give them a name.
Heroes in all our armies deserve names, unit champions that perform should earn names too. It makes the game more fun in my experience. It gives your heroes a bit more personality and makes thier wins and losses more memorable.

Re: The Old World Roadmap - High Elves confirmed after the Empire
In my mind the only real choices for a warrior/wizard pair of characters to be in the Old World would be Finubar and Belannaer. They'd both need to be new models though. They're the ones who actually went over there and interacted with multiple groups in it. So many other options are tied up in civi...

Re: Secret Tech; Wizarding Hat on a champion
Yeah, from the FAQ it seems like the intent is that the ghost in hat is the wizard. Probably fairest to just treat it like a basic level 1 wizard that shares a base with the wearer of the hat and not try to use it for wierd purposes.

Yeah, the allied contingent rules already say on p280 of the BBB that you need to "abide by the army composition rules and the percentages given for the army composition list used to create it." From the FAQ it looks like you're 2000 point army can contain a 500 point army, but it's core d...

Re: Anvil unit?
I think TA is pretty on point with my opinion of the options we've got. For a unit that's there to catch a charge and hold it for your hammer the next turn I really like a block of spearmen with the banner of iron resolve and Shieldwall. Without something like item destruction or a bad terror check ...

Re: Facing Gun Lines
The army described by the OP is going to devour elf cavalry like it's candy. You can take 3 eagles for the cost of a minimum sized unit of dragon princes. Dragons are pretty risky. You're at risk of getting tar pitted, shot to death, monster slain, hitting something that's stubborn, or just running ...
