Re: A new painting blog - New troll unit WIP

They could certainly become a nice centrepiece of an army.
I am already thinking about how many trolls can I sensibly put in a list. I've got 19 now...

That's exciting!
I wish I knew people around me willing to play (preferably if of a certain age...). Difficult if like me one refuses to use Facebook.
Do keep us posted on how it goes.
Some discussion of the differences, merits and demerits compared to other editions would be very nice.

Re: A new painting blog - New troll unit WIP

Last week I started my new project of a second troll unit (plus some individual trolls). The main unit is the set fro Troll Soup that were discussed some time ago here and in SA's blog. Below are the images at the end of the first three painting sessions. IMG_20220927_074524.jpg IMG_20220927_222215....

Re: A new painting blog - Phoenix Guard COMPLETE (at last!)

This weeks project has been Stormwing.
Quick and sweet, I really enjoyed painting the model and am very pleased with how it came out.
I also have Eltharion to paint but don't fancy doing more elf figures full of tiny details right now, so my next project will also be monstrous.

I also like how you’ve got the halberds angled down in concert.
That's because the guys with the halberds down can only fit on the right hand side, and placing the middle pose on the left is awkward.

Hi Andy, Welcome to Ulthuan. You definitely started with a loud bang! No matter what difficulties your younger self had, you have overcome them. Your miniatures are cleanly painted and beautiful. Best of luck for the continuation of your project, it would be nice at some point to see your skills app...

Re: A new painting blog - Phoenix Guard WIP

After a very long time, during which I suffered from painting fatigue and got distracted by other projects, I have recently started again painting, and yesterday night I finally completed my PG unit. You can see it here in all its glory, I very much doubt I'll ever field all the models. But It's nic...

Re: How do one post pictures?

It is easier now that the forum software has been changed. No need to enter html code to link from external sites, the website can host images.
I think it's just a matter of choosing the full editor, and then add a file from the Attachments tab.

It's not that difficult to whip up a skycutter of your own. I made a 90s skycutter using a 5E metal Tiranoc Chariot and an old metal Great Eagle.
It's great when people come up with ingenious ideas and skillful conversions! =D>
Would love to see your creation.

Re: Tiranocii Drag race list

The star lance is already great for the cost with +3S and no armour saves allowed. It gets even better though. It's written in such a way that it allows you to switch to a different weapon on a turn you don't charge. So you can bring the Star Lance and a Great Weapon, and get the +3S and ASF on the...

Re: 3D Printed Bits

Since you are talking of metal models missing halberds I assume you are talking about the 6th edition ones. The best looking version in my opinion. I have made mine from original parts, with a blue sfuff mould and a cast in a mix of milliput and green stuff. OK result, passable at a distance but not...

I would have loved to paint these two models, but I managed to sell them unpainted for a very nice price, so I won't complain.

Re: Warhammer Armies Project

I've never looked much into WAP and 9th Edition, maybe I should.
From what I can see it seems very close to 8th Edition in term of rules - but how much, can anyone tell?
Also, how widely played is it?
Who writes the new army books?
Both facts and opinions welcome :)

Re: The Rings of Power

I don't have a problem with the title. It broadcasts clearly when the series is set and what it is about. Instead of a very generic remote time setting, they have chosen a turning point that has massive repercussions in history, which therefore has great dramatic potential, while leaving a lot of cr...

Really nice!
Both the quality of the painting and the miniatures, you don't need the models to be "modern" for them to look good.
There are plenty of vintage ones that are not just characterful, but definitely great.

Re: Mireadur's log. Full Averlon handmaiden unit 09/2/22

Very beautifully painted, as usual, but I've never managed to like the models, apart perhaps the handmaiden.
The others to me are ugly sculpts, including Alarielle.

I hope COVID has not hit you bad and that you are recovering without long term effects.

It does help that it is a rare and gorgeous model, but it takes some good painting to make it shine.
Well done!

It would be fascinating for me to see some of these exotic models.
Also some pictures of the arcane Magnum Opus would be interesting.
Looking forward to the development of this thread into something bigger!

Re: A new painting blog - Phoenix Guard WIP

Quite a bit of progress lately. Perhaps it does not show well, and picture quality is crap (used the phone not a proper camera), but the unit is starting to look the way I want it to. Now I have to clean it up and work on the details, will certainly be time consuming. The cloaks are more desaturated...

I think the master move that turned the battle was positioning there those Reavers.
It totally bottled up the Empire's maneuver.

Re: Fitzlock's High Elves - The Glittering Host of Avelorn

When I got my DP's fortunately they cam pre-assembled. Regarding the priming, perhaps now is the time to invest in an airbrush? For approximately $90/£90 you can get a good compressor with tank that will last forever and a basic double action airbrush that is perfectly adequate for priming and highl...
