Another player from our campaign just forwarded me this link to a french shop that sells a wide range of alternatives for HE 3d prints. I found this quite comprehensive, so might be worth checking out:

Re: 1650 Points Cavalry Prince vs. OG
Thank you, Axiem. More good points to consider. The switch to the Loremaster's Cloak would be easy enough to make. Do O&G lists typically feature a lot of magic missiles? Though maybe just the availability of the Ruby Ring is enough threat already due to my limited magical defense. Regarding the...

Thank you for the input! My opponent unfortunately had to postpone today's game, but I did work your suggested changes into the list and do indeed like it better now. Will let you know how it went once we have played our game. === High Elf Realms v1 vs O&G [1648 pts] Warhammer: The Old World, Hi...

1650 Points Cavalry Prince vs. OG
Greetings fellow Nobles, this evening I will be playing against one of the O&G players from our local campaign group who had the audacity to send his troups into my realm! While thinking about how to approach the battle, I came back to the idea of giving the Cavalry Prince a spin and came up wit...

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - Campaigning in the Border Princes
Round 10: Battle is inbound! The Orks of the Blooded Rock Clan have passed the lands of their undead allies to attack the town of Aldium, which is currently under my control. This means there will be a 1650 points battle coming soon. I am open for suggestions against the Greenskins. My opponent oft...

Re: High Elf Wave 3
Interesting that they appear to be releasing a skycutter with too few crew. I wondered why they upped it to 3 and i had to mod the model: i reckon it might be due an errata soon as that's easier than redoing the model If you don't build it with the bolt thrower, there actually is a build with three...

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - A Tale of the Elithesi
The Merwyrm one is nice, especially if you want to stick to a dragon theme. Though I actually like that the GW one is very different. It really is its own thing, not just a wet dragon. I've had a look around for printing services, and at least here in the Netherlands, there seems to be a fair few o...

It's looking great and the sisters are shaping up nicely. Let us know what the next model you're getting is going to be. I always enjoy putting together some of the bigger kits. And you keep finding some great alternative models. Well, for the Merwyrm I will likely go with this model: https://cults...

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - A Tale of the Elithesi
Finally finished the Skycutter. Next up will likely be 10 Sisters of Avelorn or 9 IoB Seaguard. When these are all finished, I will allow myself to buy something new. Either a second Skycutter, a Phoenix or a Merwyrm. But first, more painting

Re: I made a find - now whar to do with it
I feel he looks more like a warrior than a mage, so would probably use him as one of our fighting characters. He could be a Seaguard Garrison Commander BSB for example. Hos stoic pose would fit that character. Mine has been a regular Noble on foot since ages.

Re: HE Tournament Results
Interesting to have the Razor Banner on the block of 20 SM. Most people probably would not opt for this, but it gives some extra bite against units not affected by cleaving blow. I find it more curious to not see drilled on the SM. I thought that rule to be very valuable to increase their movement ...

Re: The army of Spires; assembly time
The Merwyrm is indeed the official model. I must say it's growing on me. When I first saw it in photos I didn't like it much, but each time I come across it, it's better. It's pricey indeed. Though I hadn't bought any WH stuff in ages (except for the TOW rule books). Not since The End Times, and ev...

Re: The army of Spires; assembly time
Good luck with those White Lions! I have 15 of those left to paint as well. But their current rules don't put them very high in the priority list.
Are you using the official model for your Merwyrm? I can't yet stomach the pricing of that model and will likely go for an alternative.

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - A Tale of the Elithesi
That's looking amazing. I love the freehand on the sail. Looking forward to seeing it complete. Thank you for the praise. The dragon on the sail is not a freehand though, but instead is part of the printed model. I also like the look of it, however! I do have to warn you though that the GW Skycutte...

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - Campaigning in the Border Princes
Round 9: Movement for round 9 of the campaign. All banners evade each other on my borders, so no battle this round. But the TKs' armies in my lands continue to be a nuisance. And from the East, O&G armies approach via the territories of their allied TKs. Either their alliance breaks soon, or I ...

Nearly done. Just the two exchangeable crew members - one with the bolt thrower, one without - left to do.

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - A Tale of the Elithesi
Some progress on the Skycutter. One more painting session for the chariot and eagle and one for the crew and it should be finished. Still a terribly flimsy model. I hope GWs version in plastic is at least a bit more stable.

Re: Reworking the High Elf Book Updated 22/03/25
Thank you for the additional explanation, that makes a lot of sense. I was looking at it from the angle that you'd often use a larger unit of Seaguard to pile in these benefits and in that case the SGGC would cost similar to what you would pay in your version if you want to buy all the rules. The ar...

Re: Reworking the High Elf Book Updated 22/03/25
I've been thinking about recent seaguard experience and how I'd change it to make it a reasonable alternative. The fundamental issue I see with it is that the mismatch between units and characters: you have to take expensive, mediocre characters to access the most interesting rules, and the stormwe...

Round 8 fluff The market square of Aldium, once a lively hub of trade and laughter, now lay in eerie silence. The stalls, normally overflowing with curios from all corners of the world, stood abandoned, their wares trampled underfoot or scattered in disarray. The scent of exotic spices had faded, r...

Motley crew indeed, but still a good kitbash approach. I wonder how they look fully painted, which will tie the models together.

Maybe the IOB Set is sprues of 10 and the new command set is a sprue of 5 models. That would be my guess.

Re: Cathay Confirmed!!!
Really cool! As Tor Elithis is rather close to Cathay, I'd love to build a thematic allied detachment for my army. Fingers crossed that Cathay can ally with us. Edit: depending on how the Cathayan models are built, they might also be excellent to kitbash a more Eastern looking HE colony army. I am s...

Re: Korhil can't join white lions?
Same with the Storm Weaver, who for some reason lacks Naval Discipline and thus precludes its use if he joins a unit of Sea Guard. That also doesn't make a lot of sense, especially in the limited unit roster of the AoI.

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - Campaigning in the Border Princes
Round 8: In the dance of manoeuvres, there is actually no battle this turn and only territories are exchanged. I had expected the yellow banners to be moved southwards in order to counter the orange TKs more strongly there, but apparently this was assessed differently. And since the latter are gett...

Rant on Reference Cards: Lastly, and unrelated to the game itself, I want to share my frustration about the reference cards. As with everything related to Warhammer, they cost way too much money, and to a certain degree, I can overlook that. What I can’t overlook is the fact that the High Elf refer...
