Re: Artillery battery bases

Looking pretty good. I like the little details like the "writing" in the books. Just something I realized just now. I wonder why anyone would bring a candle to a table which is standing outdoors on a battlefield... ;) Rod Shhh, the Warhammer world is a dark and windless place with low pre...

Baggage trains

Just leafing through the 3rd edition army lists and the rules concerning baggage trains. I love the idea and would maybe like to make one for my battalion. I'd probably just keep it to the one wagon with five mini's. Do any of you know if there were actual models for the 3rd edition High Elf baggage...

No need for that Shannar I've got these other quivers now anyway, might as well use them.

Those quivers look really nice. They must be really rare as I haven't come across them on Ebay. I guess I'll be using a proxy for them.

Thanks for the effort guys

It's from the Ainsty Castings "Trader Town" range. And luckily it's not even that expensive.

Re: Elendor's Host of the White Tower

I was very lucky that I bought the metal Sea Guard second hand and the previous owner had all the quivers and the shields, so the models came with quivers. I think you might find them separately on eBay, people sell bits sometimes. I am not sure how difficult it might be to find the exact same ones...

Re: Aldarin's Command - maritime themed army

I've been playing some more 9th age recently, to the detriment of painting and getting this list done. Still, I managed to gather some more bits for my artillery base. I should get started on it as I've got everything I need. I've also decided to give my spearmen unifom shields. Now they are all spo...

I've managed to gather a unit of Sea Guards with these type of miniatures, yet all of them are missing their quivers. I've managed to buy some qui...

I'm loving the Hawkship. Makes me want to start my very own for my Sea Guard battalion :)

You must have already put in quite an amount of time to get where you are with the ship. Looking forward to see its finished state.

Re: Artillery battery bases

Still in the concept phase. Did another mockup with paper and decided this time to create an 8cm round "hub" with some place for a table, the battery commander and a banner. This hub can then be connected to each separate bolt thrower unit by using a small intersection. These on their turn...

Re: Aldarin's Command - Lothern maritime themed army

Haven't done to much painting because of work. But I'm slowly getting my hero chariot done. Though, as you can see, I'll still need to change the wheels of the chariot. The ones I got are partly melted by the previous owner, so I bought another pair through ebay. So, still quite some work to do. htt...

Re: Artillery battery bases

I’m afraid not Bie, the whole concept sounds awesome though! Will you do the individual machines on their bases first or is it going to be more involved than that? I'm not really sure yet. I will definitely use the round base for the bolt thrower itself. Then I thought of making square 10x10 or 8x8...

Artillery battery bases

Hey there folks. My Sea Guard battalion is coming along nicely. Though admittedly I haven't even begun painting actual Sea Guard units . So while adding a third bolt thrower I got the idea of making some kind of base for my entire battery. I want to be able to use it during gaming sessions, so ...

Finally managed to get in a game with some of the finished High Elves of this list. Played my first 9th Age game with them. Re: Rob Lane's High Elves

Thanks for the replies,

That army looks realy nice. In the report he is fielding spearmen, but using Sea Guard miniatures. Seems like he is taking the same approach to the Sea Guard themed list as I am: all characters are on foot and no heavy cavalry (and in his case infantry for that matter)

Re: Aldarin's Command - Lothern maritime themed army

It took a while to get the horses done and I'm not 100% happy with the way they turned out I have a strong dislike of painting horses for this reason. It always feels like they should be easy to paint (after all, they look fairly basic with not a lot of details). But they take an awefully long time...

If you can get hold of White Dwarf 287, that has a report where he uses most of the army with lots of pics and an army list with the names etc.. Re: Rob Lane's High Elves

What is the story behind Rob Lane's seaguard army? Is it a tournament army or a more lore oriented one? I've tried searching for any info, but didn't really find anything.

It would be nice to find any info as I'm shaping my own maritime list.

You really have the "oldhammer" feel to your painting. Though it's not as bright and colorful perhaps as some of the painting, the clean colors (and green bases) really fit the painting of that era. And I agree that the older models are awesome. They don't have all the extra details and s...

I'm using the GW paints. For miniatures, those are the only paints I've ever used and mostly quite happy with the quality.
