Re: Total war Warhammer

It should be noted that this is still a work in progress, very early version of the game, so hopefully that sort of thing will be fixed as they continue working on the project.

Re: 9th Edition "Rumours" (and reactions to them)

Speaking for myself, I'm withholding any views on 9th edition until I see some solid information rather than rumours, however reliable they may be. I would like to say that I enjoyed four out of the five End Times books immensely (Glottkin was serviceable but lacked the sweeping feel of the rest of ...

Re: ET Archaon [SPOILERS!!!]

A small spoiler, I suppose, but Egrimm van Horstmann dies in an attempt to bind the Wind of Fire to himself. Despite binding a number of souls to himself, it goes about as well as you'd expect and the Magister is burnt to a crisp. And Alith Anar is definitely mentioned during the storyline in Loren....

Re: Campaign of the end of times Rumors (only rumors)

While it may not be as exciting as the campaign book itself, my copy of the Black Library novel that goes with the Nagash storyline arrived today. If people would like, I can go through it and see what if any elf spoilers can be extracted from between its covers? I know I saw scenes with Tyrion, Imr...

Re: Of Legendary Nippon - Wood Elves blog (input requested)

You may find that Malifaux models look odd by comparison - they are taller than GW models and considerably skinnier, or at least their new plastics are. Personally, I also find them incredibly fiddly to assemble. You may already be aware of this, but I'd definitely either find a comparison shot onli...

Many thanks, Milliardo. Skin is still something I struggle with but I'm quite pleased with how he turned out. Anyway, some more pictures for anyone still reading. It only took me a month to update this time, though I suspect I will be posting more pictures twice in the next couple of weeks. Hopefull...

Re: This Bitter Crusade - LordAnubis' Painting Log

Ok, so much for good intentions regarding regular updates. In my defence, real life happened and I have actually got more painting done. I just wasn't able to take pictures of some models and won't be able to until mid-May. I'll try my best to remember to take some then. However, I do have one updat...

This Bitter Crusade - LordAnubis' Painting Log

"All I ever wanted was the truth. Remember those words as you read the ones that follow." - The Book of Lorgar Welcome, traveller, to my humble attempt at a painting log! This is the first time that I have done anything of the sort, as is evidenced by the number of attempts I’ve made at s...

Re: Death of Sylvania: Sigmar's Blood

If it sells, then GW will almost certainly do more like it. That said, I was under the impression that this was a new addition to the timeline rather than an expansion of pre-existing background material. It appears to be set in the present of the Warhammer World, given that this is Volkmar as oppos...

Re: Need tips with Dark Eldar.

As promised, here (with any luck) is a picture of some of my Dark Eldar warriors. I hope it's of interest. The armour is Ultramarine Blue (Army Painter spray) washed with Drakenhof Nightshade. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc207/Veherzak/Warhammer/Dark%20Eldar/705276cf-3a1b-4ddf-b391-15e09f75b2...

Re: Need tips with Dark Eldar.

For my Dark Eldar, I used Army Painter's Ultramarine Blue spray as a basecoat and then washed it with Drakenhof Nightshade - however I am trying to paint them as the Kabal of the Poisoned Tongue, one of the canon Kabals. If I can, I'll upload a picture later if that'd be helpful, though I cannot clai...

Re: New DE background

Not everyone has ready access to army books - my nearest GW store takes me a good hour to get to all told, costs me a bus fare and takes up most of a morning/afternoon. Unless I have another reason to make the trip, which I don't very often, I just cannot justify going there when I can buy anything ...

Re: New DE background

Personally, I hold the view that Chaos is going to win. It doesn’t matter what the other races try or plot, it is inevitable – that is how I like to view the background. That said, I am not arguing that what I stated above is going to happen, even if the technology changes occur. There are definite ...

Re: New DE background

This brings up the second pillar - technology. Skaven have some, albeit not known for it's reliability or potential for mass-manufacture, and there's the chaos dwarves and some minor stuff in Chaos itself now, but the real advancement seems to be happening among the dwarves and the Empire, and in g...

Re: New DE background

Even Ragnarök is not going to be final end of the world. Most Aesir will die, but not all. It is renewal as much as the end. Like most mythoi known to man (probably can't have it any other way). True - 'only' the vast bulk of the Aesir and all but two humans die, but it is still the end o...

Re: New DE background

An alternative comparison might be made with Ragnarok, the final battle prophesied in the Norse sagas and clearly mimicked at least in 40K books with the Rhana Dandra - the final battle of the Eldar against Chaos. The point being that, in all of the sagas, Odin at least knows that the Aesir are doom...

Re: 40k Rulesbook

Briefly - no, there are new versions of both. The game is currently on its 6th edition - for the rules, you have the choice of the main rulebook (£45), the rules-only hardback that GW recently released (£30) or the paperback from the Dark Vengeance set which you could probably find via eBay or some ...

Re: A little White Scar List Feedback Action...

One thing to consider is that fliers are relatively predictable - they can only turn 90 degrees and otherwise have to move in a straight line and so on and so forth. Given this and the relative speed of a bike army, you should be able to dodge around those paths to a reasonable degree. The exception...

Re: New to Dark Eldar.

I would probably increase that Reaver squad to 6 or 9 models as 3 won't last long, and give them Heat Lances rather than Blasters. If you can get them into melta range (9") of enemy tanks, Heat Lances are vicious and much more potent than Blasters. I would also consider giving the Scourges eith...

Re: New to Dark Eldar.

I would strongly advise that you reconsider that Trueborn set up. While it looks like a lot of anti-tank firepower, the issue is that you cannot move and use those Dark Lances. That means that giving them the transport is a waste - I would suggest giving it to the Incubi instead, give the Archon a P...

Re: New to Dark Eldar.

Welcome to the dark side of 40k, Selvhan. Dark Eldar are one of my armies, but I would certainly not count myself as an expert so take all this with a pinch of salt too! However, I would strongly suggest that you need more transports. Dark Eldar rely on speed and manoeuvrability, so having the bulk ...

Re: My predictions of units in the new book

Given the lack of such limits in recent books, I would be very surprised to see any of the High Elf elite infantry made 0-1. See the comments Jervis Johnson made in the October issue of White Dwarf - GW are moving away from this because it is putting 'artificial limitations on what models we can col...

You might also consider how distrustful the High Elves will be of a Dark Elf claiming such things. Given that this is coming from an enemy that has infiltrated Ulthuan multiple times, that has killed and worse... There is every chance that the potential Druchii defector will meet with a very cold re...
