Re: ET Archaon [SPOILERS!!!]

Ah, that makes sense. So basically it's a little 9e world and will probably have a little bit of everyone in it to rebuild the factions. I'm sure the skaven slipped in at some point, wouldn't be surprised if lizardmen showed up on a spaceship, and since Chaos knows about it they'll probably show up...

Re: ET Archaon [SPOILERS!!!]

So wait, what is the Haven? The idea is that Lileath created some other realm so that elves might be able to live on there, and sent Araloth (pregnant with her daughter, because someone at GW has very strange ideas about gods), some other elves, and maybe the spirits of some dead Bretonnians (depen...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers

Well, no, the Winds of Magic are not just how the High Elves look at magic. In the main rulebook fluff descriptions, magic is described as the Winds of Magic and in several other places... Other races just use magic, they don't understand it, they don't control it, they don't rule it, they just use...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers

However, I don't think it's true that all the race lores come from mixes of the 8 winds. Chaos-associated lores (and I include the Skaven lores with this) come from the raw power of the gods concerned, and such energy coming directly from the Realm of Chaos may never have differentiated in the firs...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers

isn't all this strange? I mean Allarielle loved Tyrion, or so we were all led to believe. And we certainly knew that Tyrion loved Allarielle. GW should not really be trusted to do any characterisation any more. :( How does morathi get her claws into tyrion? And how did malekith escape her influence...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers

Gav Thorpe has been seen in this thread, commenting a bit :P. Nothing really surprising there. Thorpe didn't get to decide what happens in the plot; he just had to write it as a novel. In any case, I think he's correct and fixating on the individual authors is a waste of time. I am racking my mind ...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers

Thank you fellow outcasts! Good sir, I am a knight of Bretonnia. But our stories speak of a mystic land across the sea, an Otherworld or Avalon, where the mountains touch the heavens and the land floats on a bed of mists. They say this land is inhabited by the Fair Folk, proud and beautiful, of sup...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers

It is also STRONGLY implied that Malekith was the one who murdered Bel-Shanaar, I don't think this was only his Mother's doing and their actions were mostly coordinated after a point so he was at least an accomplice of such a heinous act. Malekith murdered Bel-Shanaar. In chapter twenty-four of Cur...

Yes. It is absolutely full of flashbacks, and while they do sometimes serve a purpose, I think they were probably overused.

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers

The idea is that because he was resurrected from Aliathra, who inherited the Curse of Aenarion, Nagash's resurrection was somehow also tainted and he was weakened. I don't think he suffers from the Curse of Aenarion itself; it was just a spanner in the works. I don't worry too much about it myself, ...

I do want to say, in response to Truthiness: I have now read The Curse of Khaine myself, and while I applaud your effort to put a positive spin on it... it's futile. Really. Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers

your oversimplistic view on greek mythology is really amazing...i will not comment at that further, because it wouldn't be rellevant to the topic. Pop culture views of mythology are usually wrong. As far as Asuryan goes, I think it's probably just worth reiterating that GW is really bad at writing ...

Re: The End Times Fluff Discussion [May contain spoilers]

I know it is 40k but still. It's not wise to make too much of connections, but you may recall the old line in 40k that during the Fall, Khorne attempted to consume Khaine; and Khaine was at a significant disadvantage, because in their excess, the eldar had inadvertently weakened Khaine while streng...

As I've said previously, I used to think Khaine = Khorne too. But despite the naming similarity, the indications from the fluff are that they aren't actually the same: *shrug* I can't help but think of a conversation I witnessed on another site. It went along these lines: "Aenarion was not cor...

I'm going for Nagash + Old World Allies beat Chaos, then Nagash dies. Nagash already had his book. Given that the undead won everything in their End Times book, and we have Chaos next, well, we ought to have a big run of victories for Chaos, and then the mortal races get to claw their way back and ...

Your Dates are of a different system, being from that to try and match up the mayan calendar with the christian one...???, one follows the stars and the other follows a demi-gods death. You cant follow both in the same year-to-date system, they're set thousands of years apart. Warhammer 40,000 date...

It could just be an evolution thing too... You know that whole more males at birth but more women make it to see old age in human societies? We have a far higher "Hey guys whatch this!" rate then women do. That is called culture. Believe me, there are some quite shockingly reckless and ag...

Re: The true elves?

The first, is that Malekith himself acted as if Asuryan had the authority when he stepped into the flames. I would suggest that Dark Elf culture and ideology was not fully formed at the time of the civil war between Malekith and Caledor. There were no Dark Elves at that time. Malekith was a High El...

Re: How do High Elves represent Death?

The best representation would be an old looking elven women with a crow. For the sake of comparative religion, I would add that this is very similar to depictions of Morr in the Old World, who is commonly associated with ravens, and is also a god of dreams and portents. The only difference seems to...

Half-Elves don't exist in the WH world. Clearly they do, if there's one in Gilead's Blood . There's no particularly compelling reason to forbid them, we have a canonical example of one, and it's always best to err on the side of player creativity... so go for it. There may be a bigger problem with ...

Aenarion was at that time, by all accounts, not quite of sound mind. ] Exactly. Yet they both claim descent from him. And if we were to belief Eldar mythology, Khaine has to ask for Asuryan for perrmission to persecute Isha and Kurnous. Eldar mythology is distinct from High Elf mythology, though. A...

Asuryan decides that - the Dark Elves are free to ask him. The view that Asuryan decides itself springs from High Elf modes of thought, though. The High Elves are the ones that hold up Asuryan as ruler of the gods, and are the only ones who take his pronouncements as authoritative; who indeed argue...
