Re: Hands Across The Annulii - Avelorn and Chrace

Okay then. Apols if any of these are too big or oddly shaped, they're formatted for instagram. My new airbrush. Really cheap Timbertech thing that a lot of 'it's pretty good for the price!' reviews. It does okay, as far as I know. I only ever had a terrible Testors Aztek thing before, so anything's ...

Re: Hands Across The Annulii - Avelorn and Chrace

I think oyumaru is what gets relabelled in the west as 'blue stuff'. (I like how little they think of the average gamer's IQ that they have to name things 'colour stuff', never mind if it's a completely different product from a completely different source... ) I got some of the OG product, onl...

I keep feeling like I'm getting distracted from the main job, but thanks. :)

My new airbrush arrives tomorrow. Sounds like it's bringing another round of snow with it. I'm almost frightened of needing a new compressor too - what kind of weather is that going to cause?

Re: Hands Across The Annulii - Avelorn and Chrace

Thanks all! The Last Sword miniatures look amazing. And they seem like great guys (they dropped by on the forum here when they ran their kickstarter campaign), though that's not immediately a reason to like mini's of course. I still plan to use their knights. Well, the horses and rider legs, at leas...

Holy smokes, that's impressive! Not a brushstroke out of place. Very nice array of blue and gold. I see you trimmed off the extra bowstrings on the lumineth archers, which I wholly endorse.

All the best for the tourney.

Re: Hands Across The Annulii - Avelorn and Chrace

Thanks all, much appreciated. :) For white lions, they can be found online in second hand shops ebay (especially the UK one) has plenty of Warhammer models, though some people charge ridiculous amounts. Also, be wary of shipping charges. Some people charge $20 in shipping for a single $5 model... I'...

Imagine my surprise when I found this thread near the top of the board after... two years!? Woah. Sorry that I've been away, and that I've nothing to show for it. Six spearmen and six sisters really took more effort than I anticipated, just to remove the fishy bits and tone them down, and it intimid...

Re: Share Your Snow Sculptures Here!

We had an uncharacteristically large amount of snow last weekend (as in, it's still there, 4 days later, which is pretty unheard of in the Netherlands), so we created our own snowman  I get it. 'One day snow', gone so quickly you barely have time to do anything with it. Excellent stuff, guys.

Thanks all. :) Would you believe that I go through half of this putty trouble because it's the painting process that really intimidates me? Re: Fitzlock's High Elves - The Glittering Host of Avelorn

Great googly moogly, Fitzlock. That's wonderful stuff. There's something about it that I can't articulate properly: how the different blocks of colour - white, green, gold, skin - mesh together into the whole. (I never looked very closely at pre-AoS models of Teclis. Kind of amused he's got a big Pa...

Re: Azaam's journey to his full painted army

Nice to see some milliput love. I've been using it for years , back when I started this hobby. Went from hating it, to using it in greenstuff mixes, to - when I came back last year - just about preferring it to others. It's definitely got a learning curve but it's got properties of smoothability and...

Re: A new painting blog - army BSB complete

I have now done several trolls and am working on a whole unit of phoenix guard (metal models). I also got a cheap phoenix on eBay, stripped it and unglued it (a dog of a job, polystyrene cement welds the parts), plus a lot of bits, so now I am ready to start building my own flying circus. All these...

I can sympathise with taking a break. Thanks Mireadur! Been a bit quiet, but I've been chopping up a few more spearmen. The seamaster in particular needed a lot of fishy bits snipped off and smoothed over. I wanted to give him a shield design to indicate that he was once in the garrison of one of the five gate fortresses, and because of...

Re: Elves from Nippon and Cathay

Nice concepts. :) I've wondered about mixing up some samurai elements with elves, myself.

Making them could be tricky. Best I can think of is to see who makes plastic samurai and see if they scale well with elf bits. Heads especially.
