Re: Old World Almanack – Your First Look at the Rules
And it seems that both players will be able to cast spells in at least the Strategic Phase. However, as they've made clear and the description for Cursed Blades indicates, casting and dispelling will be more localized to the vicinity of each respective wizard, so having a single powerful wizard may ...

Re: High Elves in challenges
While I'm a bit late to the party, for future users who might read this I would add that against a Vampire Lord specifically, you may be better off with the Obsidian Blade or the Sword of Anti-Heroes in case the vampire has the Nightshroud, which negates the Strength bonus from weapons like Giant Bl...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
I'll reiterate that the SPECIAL RULES paragraph on page 100 of the rulebook already creates a clear distinction between the special rules of a character and those of a unit he joins. The Regeneration of the character only applies to the character, while the Regeneration of the unit only applies to t...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
The key issue for me is the pg 74 wording, "if a unit is wounded by a Flaming Attack it loses the Regeneration rule". Is this simply a case of poor wording? These examples we're going through suggest that a character who's joined a unit is not himself 'a unit'. I think it works fine as is...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
I've a question. If a Regenerating character joins a Regenerating unit and then the character suffers a Flaming wound, which models lose Regeneration by your reading Minion X? Only the character loses his Regeneration save since he is a separate profile with his own special rules and his own set of...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
As per the paragraph SPECIAL RULES on page 100 of the Warhammer rulebook, even if a character and a unit he has joined both have a special rule, and even if they have received the special rule from the same source, this is considered two separate instances of the same rule and specifically negating ...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
I haven't had the opportunity to play against Nurgle daemons since the only daemon army at my local club is strictly Tzeentch, but I can see that it would be a common issue with them. In your example, however, the Regeneration save of Model B is not affected by any attacks directed against Model A, ...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
First question, does 'it' here refer to the unit or the model? "It" refers to the target, regardless of whether it's a single model or a unit. So your position is that Regen would be negated by Flaming attacks after any relevant armour saves are failed? If the defending model has both a W...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
Say a regenerating unit takes one wound from a Flaming source and one from a non-flaming. It then armour saves the Flaming wound but not the non-flaming one. I now feel it then can't Regenerate the non-flaming wound as per above. As long as it saves any wounds caused by attacks with the Flaming Att...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
I read the rulebook with fresh eyes after coming across his original claim and it is correct. All attacks at any given Initiative do go through all the individual steps of hitting, wounding and saving simultaneously, which means: 1. To Hit 2. To Wound 3. Armour saves 4. Ward saves and Regeneration s...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
Well, for another example: You have a Star Lance High Elf prince in a unit of Dragon Princes with the Banner of Eternal Flame. They charge something with Regeneration. Can I use my Dragon Princes first to hopefully remove Regeneration so that my Prince can then attack without having to worry about ...

Re: How to deal with Skaven as High elves
I recently played against an artillery-heavy Skaven army and lost in part due to a series of consistently lucky artillery dice rolls by my opponent over multiple turns, but mainly because I failed to move into combat quickly enough and tried to get off big spells that targeted his largely worthless ...

Re: How to deal with Skaven as High elves
Regarding Spirit Leech, according to the definition of "unmodified Leadership" in the rulebook FAQ, a mount like a Screaming Bell or Plague Furnace would get to use the highest Leadership in the unit, which would likely be the character riding it. Since the Strength in Numbers special rule...

Re: Tiranocii Drag race list
Unfortunately, it's currenty disassembled since I primed it black and had to strip it. Now that I think about it, the eagle might have ended up as the steed of a Champion of Tzeentch during my last bout of destructive creativity.

Re: Tiranocii Drag race list
It's not that difficult to whip up a skycutter of your own. I made a 90s skycutter using a 5E metal Tiranoc Chariot and an old metal Great Eagle.

Re: Tiranocii Drag race list
The heroes can have lances and spears and get the strength bonus when charging since they are mounted models. The Shield of the Merwyrm on the other hand will only provide a parry save if the Prince loses his chariot and is forced to fight on foot. For example, you could give him something like the ...

Re: Fielding a prince in Warhammer Armies project
Anyway, on the topic of anti-infantry Princes on foot, high elf lords aren't exactly cut out for that role (lacking a base S5 and 4+ armour), but maybe something like Blade of Leaping Gold, Shield of the Merwyrm and Potion of Strength would help to add more wounds to your combat resolution? Otherwis...

Re: Fielding a prince in Warhammer Armies project
I divide my heroes between different units so as not to put my eggs in one basket and to give as many of them as possible a boost. Last time I had a Loremaster as my general in a unit of White Lions with the Standard of Discipline, giving him Ld 10 for Inspiring Presence and protecting the unit with...

Re: Fielding a prince in Warhammer Armies project
Rather than a Prince, I have been fielding a Noble with Dragon Armour, a halberd, the Reaver Bow and a Potion of Strength in my unit of 20 Spearmen (or 19 spearmen and the Noble). As you pointed out, High Elves don't really need heroes for mowing down infantry since their elite infantry is already g...

Re: [Looking for] Old Metal GW Lothern Sea Guard
I am in Sweden and I have about 30 of the old metal Sea Guard sculpted by Gary Morley with quivers, and a command group without quivers, all stripped. How desperate are you for classic Sea Guard, i.e. how much would you consider a fair price per model? Also, keep in mind that tracked and insured shi...

Ranking up 4th/5th edition Goodwin standard bearers?
The title pretty much says it all. Does anyone know of any way to rank up the 4th/5th Edition standard bearers by Jes Goodwin with the 4th/5th Edition plastic spearmen and 4th/5th Edition Goodwin champions while keeping them on straight slotta bases?

Re: Legal void (8ed questions)
New one! Skirmishers, now they can´t march in every direction right? Now they have a front arc, so I guess that if they want to move backwards or to the sides, its the half of the movement? Page 77, Free Reform Unless it charges, a unit of skirmishers is allowed to reform as many times as the playe...
