Re: Monthly Painting Challenge -April 2015

Im afraid Im going to fail my pledge, mainly due to massive changes in personal circumstances. My pledge was to paint 4 units. So far Ive half finished 10 sword masters, started an OOP metal Elf hero/lord/whatever he is, and base coated 6 silver helm horses. My reavers have gone from badly painted t...

Thank you both for commenting it's been very helpful:) I've decided to leave them black, the unit looks something like this (wish I had better light today) I leave mine black. I suppose you could paint them brown to make them look like they have been cut out of the ground. I considered painting the...

Im pretty much 100% in agreement Im finding that either I end up sticking sand to the models feet or legs, getting "mud" paint on the model or getting the colour of the model onto the sand. Then on top of that when you base them first they end up looking l...

Re: Endtime painting competition - VOTING THREAD

Congratulatiosn to the winner. I found it very difficult to decide who to vote for as they were all excellent models. In the end I voted for the Shadow Warriors because I like the models and I felt that they looked as thouogh they were swooshing through the grass. That being said, I could not argue ...

Re: I cant Paint White

Well, try another approach. Start with the light grey basecoat (or with addition some blue/turquoise) and after that make some smooth layers of highlights adding whote color the the basecoat mixture. In my opinion it is far better way of painting white, as I personally prefer making highlights than...

Re: Pennys First Battle - 1k Vs Empire

@theviking - Many thanks for that advice. I took a simple army as my aim was simply to play the game and see what is what. It was then my intention to alter the army list for future games. Im now thinking that for my next game I may combine the sea guard to make one big 20 man unit, chuck in a lorem...

Re: I cant Paint White

IAlternatively if you want to go the traditional route and do multi coats of thinned white, don't thin it down so much that it runs down the cracks. Personally I'm not a fan of white anything, its too bright and pure a colour. Too true :) Im kinda cheating on my arachers. Blue and orange robes

To be honest I do prefer to prime white and these were in fct primed white. I suppose thinking about it now, it was a buit daft ase coating grey over a white primer to gain white LOL Ive been priming a lot of my figures black since though as Ive been told thats what you do. Re: Pennys First Battle - 1k Vs Empire

You can take SIX demigryphs at 1,000 points and still have enough points to actually field an army? Wow... At 1,000 points we really don't have much to deal with that.... Yup, with no command its 348 points which is 35% of your army list. In all fairness, his unit never saw combat as I was too busy...

Do you base paint carefully

Might sound like an odd question but bear with me. Im quite a beginner when it comes to painting. Im fairly steady ish when it comes to painting and I often purposely use a brush thats too small on the basis that you can add but you cant take away. My painting style has changed slightly over the las...

Re: Pennys First Battle - 1k Vs Empire

My deployment was essentiall a big long line, however, my hero on Griffon started off behind the Mage/Sea Guard unit. He then hopped behind some trees, and then went for the cannon. One of my errors was changing my battle plan. While they say that a good General can adapt, completely going off cours...

Pennys First Battle - 1k Vs Empire

So, today I had my first battle and I have to say, what a learning experience it was. You can sit and digest every word in the rule book but its not until you actually play that you begin to learn something. So, partly for ease and partly because I had models I fielded the following Archmage - Lev 3...

Thunderstomp on Griffon

Quick Question Ive just made up a 1,000 point army list for a friendly battle tonight. Ive chosen a Hero on Griffon and printed the list off on Battlescribe. Re: I cant Paint White

Some good tips here, thank you very much. Im going to try the "near white" on the reavers horses as I think a very very light grey is probably more realistic anyway (Im sure that I was told that a white horse actually has dark skin and white hair, or something like that) so grey is a reali...

Re: I cant Paint White

Painting white is really hard - I'd aim at some sort of "off" white - greyish, beigeish, something like that. It'll save you a lot of time and nerves, I think. That said, painting white just requires a lot of patience - a lot of thin layers can get you a nice, bright, clear white. But its...

Sorry, I forgot to add.

Those robes were painted according to the Ciatdel Set List for white

That being Celestra Grey, Nuln Oil, Ulthuan Grey and then two thin coats of White Scar. I havent done a prazeti white drybrush yed but not sure if it wants it.

I cant Paint White

The other week I tried to paint some reavers and I decided that the horses would be white. Disaster. White paint came out chalky. I decided that I probably put the paint on too thick so I stripped the paint. Ive since been working on some sea guard and Ive used really thin paint, so thin in fact tha...

I have to admit there are some awesome rumours about 9th. Some bad ones but on the whole frommy perspetive most of it I can live with. -Round bases. This for meis the only bad bit. Round bases means skirmish games and willmake it impossible to field great big locks of units? The rest-I think I an li...

New 9th ed starter set rumours from a reliable source (so far). Box set will be chaos faction vs human faction. There are armoured warriors in a way like chaos warriors but on the side of order. There is a small rules book / pamphlet included. Models are on round bases. End of April-May sounds plau...
