"Repent? Beg for your help, for healing? Because you think I have something to fear? You never did understand, did you? The thing about a phoenix, cousin, is that they have to die before they can be reborn." - attributed to Valraith Allisarian, The Fool of Loec. The vast fang listed horri...

Re: Questions about Asur lore
4.Is there any information of the identity of Orion and Ariel before they came to Athel Loren. What kingdoms of Ulthuan did they come from? It is heavily implied in the War of Vengeance trilogy that Orion was a former druchii assassin named Sevekai and Ariel was a Dragon Mage named Liandra under th...

Re: The End Times. How would you do it?
It's possible of course. Though I always have the feeling that many people here are more knowledgeable of the GW canon then the actual writers GW employs. So they didn't think it through that far. And they mainly picked him because he was available and they needed someone with a mildly plausible ba...

Re: The End Times. How would you do it?
I had a funny little revelation rereading the End Times books the other day, concerning Malekith, Morathi and the line of succession to the Phoenix Throne. So it is stated outright that Malekith is Asuryan's choice as the heir to Aenarion. There was no grey area left in the matter, it was the patron...

I'm glad one of the grizzled veterans is still writing, nice work.
I'm going to have to go back and binge on The Company's antics late one night with a coffee and cigar just to relive the daring-do.
More I say!

The Fool.
I have seen a world torn asunder and histories consigned to ashes. I have seen Kings crowned thrice over and Queens uniting empires. Gods I have witnessed walking the bare earth of the mortal realm and Avatars hewn down to the dirt. I joined the mad folly of an alliance forged in terrible desperati...

He didn't specify official character ;) In which case I would go for our own lovely Narrin'Tim . I like Alith Anar. At least he has some backbone. Rod Always more of a Palin'Tanith man myself. Don't mind a certain colonial Lex Lutheresqe schemer either, if I have to admit it. From the off the offic...

Re: ETC 2016 Votes for 9th Age
Though a very interesting discussion, it doesn't actually mean anything for the 9th age project. I can't judge the truth of the statements of the skill levels of the players (since I don't know them or have played against them). However, it's not true that you need to be the absolute best player to...

Re: Help please
Yeah old Genestealer Cult models should have a market to sell.
The original Blood Bowl Dark Elf stuff and the metal Harlequins as well.
The plastics look like they could be from the old 4th ed box set maybe?
And the obligatory Space Marines.
Good find for five pound.

Re: High Magic
The Lore attribute itself has been nerfed in comparison to the original WE attribute where the protection counters came off after ward saves; you won't be seeing the hard to kill Highweaver Unicorn combo or the really the only combat character build WE's had with two Great Stags and the highweaver i...

Makiwara may know more than me, I don't know. Re: Warhammer 9th edition?!
-Furion is biased towards High Elves. It is suggested that he only have this project to gain an advantage This is hilarious. The survival of the entire game is in question and Furion is only trying to score HE points, really? I think not. And this is how Empires fall, the barbarians are at the gate...

Re: Warhammer 9th edition?!
To be fair though, at this point Furion has put out 7 times the useable content with 1/7th the manpower. Let's not be hasty to judge what this will look like in two or three months time, once he can get some time to go into greater depth.

Re: Warhammer 9th edition?!
Having played a game of each now against my cousin's Delfs I must say I prefer Furion's take on the woodies. Still think that the enchanted arrows are a smiggen too expensive, the Blades of Loec I'd love on my general and the Lore of Athel Loren needs some more unique spells, but aside from that it'...

Make your own Ulthuan.
Ok, so, we're aware at this point that a fair few people are unhappy with the direction of the End Times and the direction of AoS in both game mechanics and fluff terms. We've all seen, I'm sure, Furion's and the 9th Age efforts to adapt a new 9th edition that allows for ranked fantasy gaming in the...

Re: Effective use of tank units in AoS (from HobbyKiller blo
I'm not sure I agree with that idea. If you use that broad a definition of tactics then tactics is basically anything you do on a battlefield (real or imagined). Making the definition that broad also makes it useless. If everything you do falls under tactics you have no way of differentiating betwe...

Re: Effective use of tank units in AoS (from HobbyKiller blo
I think it's really cute that sort of thing passes as "tactics" now. Tactics aren't measured on a metric of good and bad, or of complexity vs simplicity, but rather by effectiveness. A mad rush to the center of a battlefield is no less tactical than the use of reconnaissance, flanking for...

Re: Warhammer 9th edition?!
Having now read through the reworked High Elf book, I've got to say the Wood Elves need at least a second magical bow with High Elves getting the Bow of the Seafarer back, it's 2 to 1 and woodies are the shooty elves. It'd also be nice to have the Bow of Loren able to use our enchanted arrows also, ...

Re: Warhammer 9th edition?!
Not played Dwarves, but have played against them and I like these changes, especially the bound spell runes. It should make these guys really interesting to play and gives them a magic phase at least. Slayers seem like they're going to be a handful and a half and, considering the fluff, rightly so. ...

Re: The Ninth Age
Maybe I'm missing something, but do we have to use the Wood Elf High Magic attribute under 9th Age rules? Because if so that's... well, rubbish! There's a build WE players use around the attribute that works well with a Sister bus, Highweaver on Unicorn and two Great Stag riders but I believ...

My impression of the Wood Elf book. Overall, quite exciting, makes me what to get converting and hobbying again, it's fun and I like that. Big decreases in cost to Eternal Guard and WWR, stubborn for 6.5 points is pretty interesting; would they be the cheapest stubborn unit in the game? WWR's probab...

Re: The Ninth Age
I think 9th age could survive, it's not that different a scenario to Pathfinder after all, however I think it's going to have some real stumbling blocks to do so. Models. How long are Glade Guard going to be available? Or HE Archers? Or any one of dozens of kits? What happens when you can no longer ...
