Re: Ptolemy: Back from Unplugged GT with a pair of awards!

Hi Ptolemy,

I'm considering picking up one of those megamats. You've had it for a while now, so I thought I'd see what your impressions are after you've had some time to bed it in properly.

Re: BotWD question

I actually heard another one today. I was in a GW and two lads were playing Fantasy, one experienced and the other a new player. The experienced player was playing HEs and the new kid was playing Daemons. Turns out the HE player had told the kid that any Daemon in base contact with his BotWD unit to...

Re: Secret Santa 2013

This strikes me as a good idea. You're always going to have some people who take advantage of things like this to just get a free model, but that's life. It'd be a shame if that put anyone off.

I'll try to get involved in the next one.

BotWD question

Hi guys. I'm a member of the Bugman's Brewery Dwarf forum, as well as here. Apparently a young lad on there is playing an opponent (or group of, not sure) who is claiming that BotWD gives him immunity (or a 2+ save) to the Rune of Spellbreaking because, and I quote, the rune "attacks the wizard...

Re: Ptolemy: Back from Unplugged GT with a pair of awards!

I always feel it's a shame when people take it way too seriously. It's a game, it's supposed to be about fun. Winning is cool, but if you absolutely can't have fun if you lose then you need to find a new hobby - because you'll ruin it for other people. It's a bit like cheating seems pointless to me,...

Re: Ptolemy: Back from Unplugged GT with a pair of awards!

I went to a tournament in, probably, 2000. There was a guy who was nice to everyone, and had brought cakes and things and handed them out to opponents. He came in second in best sportsman and threw a massive fit about not winning it, refused his little trophy and stormed off home. So there really ar...

Re: Warhammer World Trip

I think it's a case of there being so much it's not worth putting it all up. I seem to recall there being lots of flick through anyway.

Google might help, and looking on ebay. People go to WW and then list what they picked up at a large mark-up. If you can find any you like, let me know.

Re: Warhammer World Trip

That's all the exclusive stuff. The few times I've been it's all been stocked - though I did clean them out of Bugman models one time because loads of people in the States wanted one.

Re: 'Poshing up' my core

All the advice so far seems fairly comprehensive and bob-on. The only thing I could add is that some people have gone for a head-swap on the models. The expressions on the spears are dull and the uber-pointy heads are a bit much for many people. Swapping in White Lion or Phoenix Guard heads makes th...

Warhammer World Trip

I'm off to Warhammer World in a couple of weeks and thought I'd offer to pick up the exclusive stuff for anyone who wants it. You'd have to pay postage and for the stuff, but there'd be no mark-up from me, I just thought I might as well as I'll be there anyway. There's a decent range of collectables...

Re: Need help converting the WE Wildwood Rangers

I've not done the work yet. I've got some work to do on a dragon before I have a crack at those models this weekend. Will it be too late then? If not, I'll PM you. *Edit* A very simple move would be to have a look at all the HE arms and pick ones with tops of the arms you like. Cut the WWRangers arm...

Re: Need help converting the WE Wildwood Rangers

I'm using the same models as a base for my counts-as white lions. My intention is to sculpt scale armour to match the scales hanging from the tabard. It's just a simple cross-hatch pattern, so shouldn't be too taxing.

I'm making a Star Dragon out of the new Carnosaur

http://www.ulthuan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=63918

It's about half way down the page. It's much larger than any of the current GW dragons and works well as a Star Dragon, I think.

Re: DiscoKing's High Elf Painting Blog

Very nice dragon. I'm using the Carnosaur (Star Dragon) and Bastiladon (Cave Dragon - used as Moon Dragon) as base models for dragons and it's good to see other people converting alternative models. I agree with NexS that the Stags may make better Reavers than Helms, though the paint job may tie the...

Re: Brass Rods for Standard Bearer

Depends where you are based, but you can get them online or in most hobby stores. I'd advise you to get 1/16" brass tubes, rather than rods. The new scale elf hands can sometimes be a bit small to drill through without damaging the detail, but if they are you can drill a smaller hole and use a ...

Sold the Tiranocs.

Just the Sea Guard and Sword Masters left now, but also have a large amount of Dwarfs and Space Marines that need to go to make room for more stuff.

Re: Antheron's Caledor Army - Star Dragon and Loremaster

I agree. It wasn't something I noticed when looking at the pictures on the website, but they are very skinny arms. I will try to match the scale armour on the loincloth for armour on the arms, as the scales would suit the "dragon" theme.

Re: Antheron's Caledor Army - Star Dragon and Loremaster

Thanks, guys. Meraklis - did you mean to ask why I *didn't* use the glaives? If so, then it's because I am using them on other models. I bought the Eternal Guard boxes because I could use every piece in them. The bodies and Eternal Guard spear shafts for the Wardens, the spearheads and shields for m...

Re: 9th Edition? Rumours

I don't disagree with you, Nox, but my suspicion is that the rulebook in the starter set will be somewhat slimmed down from the full rule set. Jervis Johnson also indicated that there would be additional rule releases, and it'll be interesting to see whether that means multiple 'mission' sets with a...

Re: 9th Edition? Rumours

I think that's all true, Rod, but from what Jervis has had to say lately, I am assuming that the model sets will be related to new missions and rule sets and that there may be more than just one 'main' box. The splitting up of the main book is certainly sensible, and it'll be interesting to see whet...

Re: 9th Edition? Rumours

The new way of organising 40k seems likely to spread to fantasy. That is to say a three book set and no figures, but at the same price as a set that would contain miniatures in the past - very profitable in comparison. They will probably then do special releases of new missions or rule sets, that ma...
