Re: Elven Papercraft Tower & Wall Set

(Sigh) Yes cutting out can be a wee bit of a pain, but with a decent art knife with sharp blades it doesn't take that long. Actually quite a bit of cutting can be done with sissors which does make the job a bit quicker.

Re: Allied forces speculation

Just because there's been a lot of suggestion that allied forces are likely for WHFB 9th ed, maybe we should have a discussion. Allied forces is basically a rule system where you can take forces from another army book to compliment your own army, in some reasonably limited fashion. For example, a H...

Re: Elven Papercraft Tower & Wall Set

I was wondering about how it works. Do you have to print them yourself, or do they send you a printed set (preferably printed on something a bit sturdier then paper)? Problem with having to print them is that the end result depends on the quality of the printer a lot. And, a bigger issue, I don't a...

Re: Elven Papercraft Tower & Wall Set

In my opinion the textures are pretty hard to beat. I used to make my own paper structure kits which I had available for free at one time on a geocities website, but when I see something like the artwork on the Elven Mill I know when I'm out classed which means I don't mind paying money for quality,...

I like the Moon textures too. The dark textures don't really interest me as I've never been a Dark Elf player.

Elven Papercraft Tower & Wall Set

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/elven-papercraft-tower-wall-set/x/7478346 The link is to the campaign on Indiegogo to develop a set of structure parts specifically for Elves. I'm really excited about it and have already put my pledge in as in all my time as a wargamer there has been such a lack ...

Re: Monthly Painting Challenge - April

I didn't finish any chariots due to getting ill (again!) in April. I guess I'll try again this month. Teledor, I love the colours you've chosen for your Reavers. Red is so rarely used for High Elves and you've made it work really well. Swordmaster of Hoeth, I like everything about your Sisters of Av...

Riding on a phoenix would very much put you in the hot seat ;)

I haven't done much at all this month due to being ill and having bad joint and muscle pain (again!), but will still get my brushes out and see if I can move my Pegasus chariot on a bit more.

Alternative Armies. Printed card armies.

Hold on a moment, don't start laughing, - have a look at this........ http://onemonk.com/FB-Elven_Alliance.html $9.00 or so for an entire good looking army. So, - how much did you spend on the last army you put together? The last big club game I played I used my Silk Road Elf army which was complete...

Re: Mantic Games model figures.

Whilst most Mantic stuff is poor, the Panthers are just crying out to be used in a White Lions army as White Lionesses. . I've had the same thought to tell the truth. The Sisterhood minis are highly convertible to she-Elves and look a lot better than those she-linebacker Sisters of Avelorn that GW ...

Re: 9th Edition? Rumours

What I would always find annoying was having to buy a new expensive rulebook and army book. Having just started playing Mantic's Kings of War the one thing I found to be really excellent is that their rulebooks & etc are available on PDF and I can put them on my tablet. No more out of date ruleb...

I made a custom base for my Sisterhood chariot. I had some kind of two part putty stuff I'd purchased at the local hardware store left over from a handywoman project so I used that applying it over a 1mm ply base. These are cellphone camera pictures coz my good Canon camera is busted. http://i783.ph...

Re: An Army for an Asur Colony in Araby.

Panthers, - I've got twelve of them to paint and for a wee while I was at a loss to decide how to paint them. Just now as I was making myself a cup of tea the thought came to me to paint all these panthers in the same way that I'm going to paint my Ethiopian Pegasus. That way the whole question of w...

Re: An Army for an Asur Colony in Araby.

Lot's of us do blogs. Mantic really ought to hire some decent painters. That's what a lot of folk are saying on the Mantic forum. I was on the brink of throwing out some old pots of dried up GW paint when I noticed that some of them weren't dried up hard, but instead the pigment was still crumbly a...

You are quite right Rob, - I found an Australian supplier on ebay who can sell me the big rolls cheaply and the postage is really cheap too. The Mantic box of 10 panther riders arrived this morning which cheered me up a lot. Mantic cases are nice looking with their colourful artwork and a decent plastic case is better than a cardboard box, but inside, - once inside........ it's plain that GW this is not. The case contains a plastic bag f...

I used Centaurs in my Avelorn army as Reavers. They were little feral she-centaurs made from some old sulpts that Amazon Minis used to sell. Sometimes my opponents would laugh because they were just little things, but they were very fierce armed with round wicker shields. bows and javelins (spears) ...

Having got as far as a dry assembly of the chariot I can report that while I love the details on the castings it's not exactly easy to get the thing together. Flash was average and easy to remove. Mantic use a nice soft malleable alloy that's easy to clean up, - I used a sharp craft knife blade moun...
