Re: Wood elves - were to turn?
Yes please nudge him. it would be nice to have old threads being it has a lot of tactical advice and battle reports which we can reference to being no other race can give advice on general wood elf tactica given how unique the army is in the whole. Maybe some army lists, but as a whole its pretty da...

Re: Wood elves - were to turn?
It seems the Dark Elves forums is down ever sense they tried to do their weird update, and our Asrai part is also down with it
We might need to open a thread here or create an asrai board just without any history.

Re: Wood elves - were to turn?
well im hoping the AoS team helps design models for the Old World, being the Qulathis the Exile for the Cursed City box that GW made 2 years ago, is way body proportionate than anything came during the WHFB era. Hell I had been wanting to use the Hobbit Mirkwood Elves as a replacement for the Glade ...

Re: Wood elves - were to turn?
Actually asrai.druchii.net isnt really an archive, its really hosted on druchii.net being I just logged on to test it. BUT being all the wood elves are in hibernation so effectively its is an archive. That being said, anyways nice seeing some Elves around. I am still debating if I should sell my unf...

My thought is silverhelms are shock troops, reavers /w spears are flankers, reavers /w bows are skirmishers, reavers /w bow&spear are flankers&skirmishers

Oh wait, I think I got my math wrong. Sorry they negate exactly 7 which is the max you can get with that combo. But at least you can save against the rock throwers which is more of a problem then cannons. Then again, i think when you have a 2+ armor... one will logically go for a ward over a extra d...

Re: Let's talk about the Lore of Light
I have been an advocate of this lore for as long as I can remember. I find it puzzling that there is currently no-one currently chronicling an attempt to make such a list work. I think the lore has multiple potential uses, first of all a very defensive playstyle though, but I`ve also seen players h...

Personally I like only the horse head, but on a personal stand point everything looks good except the front winged barding.
I think the rule was 75% must be GW or was it 50%..... dont remember.

-Ahem-. (slight) cheese time: Shadow armor - unlike other magic armors, it doesn't specify what kind of armor it is, so you could theoretically pick it alongside mundane armor Oh wow, you are right. Most other armors that does not list what they are cannot be combined unlike this one. If it was ano...

My personal fav which makes use of the Lion Cloak:
Shadow Armor
Lion Cloak
Shield
Reaver Bow
Great Sword
Ring of Fury
Seed of Rebirth/Dawnstone/Obsidian Trinket/Opal Amulet
then toss them inside a unit of Shadow Warriors.

Also add in what point limit are you playing? Then you also need to add what type of roll each will be doing, then their weakness and strengeths in that role, then also knowledge of their strength and weaknesses for other roles that popup that they have to engage or cannot avoid, also then add in an...

Re: Is the End in sight for the silver helms bus?
Law of averages is when you roll a lot of dices... like hundreds, not rolling a few or when you need it that moment. It is ok to plan by looking at the average dice roll and making a decision based on that if you are willing to try to aim higher, keep it the same or risk it. That itself is pretty mu...

Re: When is a list considered strong?
+1 to Swordmasters formula strong list + good player = success However strong list = well designed list + composition system being used for example An ETC list would look very different to a list regulated by the Swedish Comp System or a no composition restrictions event type list. Another factor t...

Re: Hoeth vs Ashur
My train of thought is: Hoeth for Archmage Ashur for Loremaster If you are mainly 1 dicing spells the Hoeth book is better than the book of Ashur to attempt the min-casting amount of 3 or lose concentration. Personally I think Wood Elves pretty much claim the Book of Ashur as a must take, while we h...

Re: Swordmasters / White Lions Debate
I think if they gave White Lions access to their cloaks in melee would help immensely just not as big as the +3 armor vs ranged, but a meager +1 in melee would be good enough being once in melee they are not wearing it like a suit so it will act kinda like a shield just in cloak format. If you think...

Re: Taking Ellyrian Reavers as a full unit?
SilverHelms are also S3, so they are about equal.
For a bus with a full character lineup, why not Reavers? In combat most of the hits are going to hit your front line anyway ie your nobles/princes.

Re: Taking Ellyrian Reavers as a full unit?
Well the points you save from taking the Reavers over the Silver Helms can afford you an extra unit. Pretty much the big unit of reavers will be hitting the opponents flanks, which the other unit will need to either redirect/open/block anything from hitting the reavers. Truthfully someone needs to t...

Re: Swordmasters / White Lions Debate
I don't disagree, but there's only so much I can do from my desktop. I think that, unless you play a lot of games, allowing personal experience to guide you too much can also be a trap. This is, in part, a game of chance after all. Yea, 20 games is not enough to learn how to use them properly being...

Re: Is the End in sight for the silver helms bus?
I think this kind of match-up comes down to player skill. The WE player should be trying to get that Treeman into the Spears and take your White Lions on with fighting elves. Whether he succeeds depends who plays better. Yup, even with the old book, they still were a pain in the proper general's ha...

Re: Is the End in sight for the silver helms bus?
Waywatchers is a single unit that can deal with Armor units and a little bit of mass infantry something rare. As for toughness and Regen units Glade Guard and Scouts are the answer. It isnt that they are bad nor hyped, it is that they the bring too much utility to not to take. Some people might thin...

Re: Is the End in sight for the silver helms bus?
my only point was that while Silver Helms are vulnerable, a second unit common seen in list (BotWD white lions) are very resilient to WE shooting, through wards, armour or numbers. These things both die equally against Way Watchers. 4's to wound, no armor saves, that negates the 2+ or the 3+ and th...

Re: Is the End in sight for the silver helms bus?
the WE will lose in combat without delivering HE combat characters into melee, especially when the WE player focus too much on shooting units. the obvious solution is to not use a SH character bus as character delivery system but use the SH bus to protect one important character like the BSB, sprea...

Re: Frosty vs Flamespyre in tournament?
it also depends on how you play: Messing up people's lines and avoiding combat if necessary vs stronger units = Flamespyre or Straight forward combat and flank attacks that can hold a turn or two in combat on its own = Frostheart I bet 90% of people prefer the frostheart being it is straight forward...
