Re: ASF vs ASL+ASF, Do I get re-rolls?
The long and short of it is that nobody gets re-rolls in these situations except the DE for the first round. The ASF is not removed, but they still have hatred. The phoenix doesn't remove their ASF, it just adds ASL, making the unit strike on initiative instead. If both units have ASL, everyone stri...

Re: New swedish comp?
Swedish Comp is a system used to score list based on the options chosen. You start with 300 points and deduct points according to the list for the options you have chosen. When you have your total, you divide by 10. The lower the score, the harder your list, in theory. They system punishes things th...

Re: Monthly Painting Challenge - October
Since my last bit of contract work went out yesterday, I should have time to paint again. So this month I plan to paint the unit of White Lions I didn't get done last month.

Re: Monthly Painting Challenge - September
I am a total painting loser this month. After the epic painting I made it through in August, I managed 1 spear-man in September. As my painting time was either taken up with picking up contract work or the honey-do list, I did not complete my 16 White Lions.

Re: Monthly Painting Challenge - August
Gandalf,
Clearly you have a different standard for what is bad painting than I do. I'll give it to you that the colors are not ideal, only because it's your work and you get to be the critic, but the work is well done, even if the color isn't ideal.

Re: War Machine Hunting
Rod, in a larger game, the dwarf player will usually have a cannon or two and the first thing he'll try to shoot with it (them) will be your bolt thrower(s). Then you have to come to him where the organ gun will eat you alive. Hanging back until you've killed the biggest threat to your army is prett...

In addition, ask to see the rules, and call him out on "forgetting the book" if he pulls that stunt again. Do it politely, but let him know you're on to his shenanigans.

Re: Monthly Painting Challenge - August
I'm new to this whole pledge thing, but I need to finish my army. therefore, my pledge is:
29 Spearmen
5 reavers
1 Dragon (already base coated which will sub for a phoenix)
2 bolt-throwers and crew
I really need it by Bayou Battles, on the 15th, so time is not on my side.

Re: Some rules questions from a Tournement.
My experience when I was new to war games in general and again when I was new to WFB (in two different cities), was that the experienced players already knew about "that guy" and didn't blame me for asking to see rules that sounded fishy. It will depend on not being confrontational and ask...

Re: Some rules questions from a Tournement.
Having reread your original post, I'm thinking dishonest jerk. Unfortunately, in tournaments, you can't always choose your opponents. Something I need to start doing, and I would advise you to do likewise, is demand to see the rules when something sounds fishy. I'd also speak to the TO about his beh...

Re: Some rules questions from a Tournement.
I would suggest talking to people you know that know him and finding out if this is a pattern and he's a dishonest jerk or just doesn't know the rules. While I suspect the first, it could be the latter.
I've come across both.

Re: Star Lance on champion.
My experience has been entirely with the current edition of Orcs and Tomb Kings. That being said, my experience with GW other than 8th ed WFB was with 40K starting with 3rd ed. and Mordheim. This would not be the first time that the powers that be made a small but significant change in the mechanics...

Re: Star Lance on champion.
Looking at the wording of the rules, I think Rod has a valid point. This rule specifies, "mounted character," whereas two other magic items have limits that are specific to what kind of "model" may be equipped with them.

Re: Army Theme Songs
Years ago I said that the theme song for my Black Templar would either be "Disposable Heroes" or "Damage Incorporated" both by Metallica depending on how I was playing that day. When I was playing Space Marine a couple of years ago, I was in a spot surrounded by orks, swinging fo...

Would ASF still be a special rule if granted by a spell? If so, I would say it still has no effect.Nicene wrote:Would a spell granting ASF to the Griffon cause its thunderstomp to go on iniative?

Re: Griffon questions in relation to thunderstomp
My instinct would be to say no to number one and yes to number two. However, unless it is FAQed otherwise, I can't see why the answer to either is no. Edit - The FAQ includes special rules, not just banners, and magic items, so I'm guessing the answer would be no. "Q: Do Stomp or Thunderstomp h...

Re: Question about an army idea
Thanks for the answer. That still leaves the question, though, does the general ride the big dragon or the medium sized dragon? (Yes, I realize that this may be a bad idea tactically, but I'm not that good a player anyway.)

Question about an army idea
After a few years of running Orcs and Tomb Kings, I'm adding a High Elf army. My first two armies are pretty stock, all GW models. Both armies had little bits of green stuff added to a couple of models to make them fit the army better or in the case of an older. metal fanatic, a counterbalance to ke...

So am I the only one getting similar reactions despite losing? The last two GTs I played in I brought Tomb Kings. The worst opponents about being whiney and throwing fits were the two who beat me the most decisively.

Re: Should I try an orcs & gobins army?
To get around animosity, have a black orc character in the units that are subject to animosity. If they get hit with animosity, they take a couple of wounds and continue. This is limited to how many BO characters you can put in your list. If you already have the army, see if you can borrow the newer...

Greetings all, I was planning on lurking a while first, but since I responded to another thread I might as well do the introduction thing. Re: Bolt thrower and crew on same base?
Hello there, first post and all. For full disclosure, my elves are still in the box and will stay there until I finish my 40K army. My WFB experience is in TKs and O&Gs. That being said, when I began stripping and repainting my Black Templars, the old terminators I got in 3rd edition were on sma...
