I like Ironcurse Icon on someone riding with the Silver Helms. Maybe on a mage. Combined with high magic you can get a quite good save versus all warmachines. Boltthrowers could be nasty, and the same goes with cannons.

If people were serious about ASF slowing down the game I would point them at the Vampire Counts player and his magic phase with accompanying zombies.

If you intend to have them operating far away from the general and/or your BSB, Standard of Discipline or The Gleaming Pennant might be two nifty low cost banners to consider.

The Flame Phoenix should be able to keep it engaged for a few turns due to fireborn. Maybe also a unit of Dragon Princes with their dragon armour.
