Re: Arimies of Infamy special rules wishlist

Limiting access to Dragons would be quite against HE naval lore where they make an important element of the fleet attached to larger ships.

What I would like to see is more focus on Eagles and Griffons that also serve as part of the navy.

Re: Arimies of Infamy special rules wishlist

I am hoping we don't get pregame shooting for the naval force. That was one of the most toxic rules ever assigned to our army. As long as it's limited to Archers, LSG and Bolt Throwers/Sky cutters, I don't think it would be unreasonable. Mostly to avoid abuse with spells and Sisters of Averlorn. Ba...

I personally use - Shield, Lance, Dragon Helm, Obsidian Loadstone, Seeds of Rebirth, Battle Banner

I use it as a heavy chaff clearance piece and mobility element to overwhelm specific points in the opponents advance when countering.

Happy New Year folks! Re: High Elf Magic Items Tier List

I am truly convinced GW do not play test their game or they brought in a bunch of graduate game designers to write up the rules. They do playtest but the GW design studio game culture/philosophy is not widely shared by the community that plays their games and their games are made in a way that they...

There was a little bit of additional info on the place in a White Dwarf. My memory is hazy but it was one of the issues between the Storm of Chaos and the release of the 7th ed HE AB. However, it should be noted that the ToW location of Tor Anrok is different from its location in the past. Once it u...

On a related note didn't he slay Charandis as his right of passage to become a White Lion?

I use mine as two groups of 9 in a 7+2 formation with each unit going on one flank. They are mostly independent operators or flankers. When necessary a Griffon BSB can cooperate with one of the units.

First step to understand is what do you consider fun?

Do you have any particular theme you are attached to?

Do you have any particular playstyle that you are more comfortable with?

And how many games were played. At a 3 or 4 game event one can be fortunate enough to not encounter any sufficiently hard counters, but at a 6 game event that is night impossible.

Back in the day I used to use scraps from cleaning molding lines and little bits of sprues mixed with plastic cement to fill such small gaps. It provided a much smoother finish than trying to fill with green stuff or any other kind of putty.

Re: Bolt thrower, good or bad?

Despite being the same cost, the dark elves version is strictly worse at it doesn't have the single shot option. I know they're legacy but DE really got shafted this edition- so much of their stuff is just worse high elves fit the same or more points. They have been there already in the 4th through...

Re: Bolt thrower, good or bad?

Or you can use a single shot against "normal" units. On average the BT will get back its points against those targets over a course of the game. Furthermore while targeting normal units one does not increase the threat level of the gaming piece until it is too late in most cases. Meaning m...

Re: The Old World Roadmap - High Elves confirmed after the Empire

My guess is Sea Guard and Caledor because those are the two main themes attached to High Elves outside of Magic. I could see a Saphery focused list but maybe that would fit better when we get to the GWAC part of the timeline when the Tower of Hoeth mobilised.

What is with Giladis from the old novel Giladis' blood? Didn't he have an estate there? You mean Gilead? :D One rumor I saw was that we would see a return of both Tyrion and Teclis. which would match the 1 fighting character list and 1 magical character list theme of the other arcane journals. Thou...

Hi there.

It was a calculation specifically for Ulthuan with some imprecise/rough estimates for other places. I think it should still be somewhere in the background section, probably towards the end since it happened 18 or so years ago :)

All that said, I don't think shooting is the thing that's going to win us games all on its own. It's a supplement. The more games I get in, the more I think building lists like we did in 7th, with bare minimum core and focusing on our Special and Rare choices, is what's going to get us wins. And fo...

The main difference is that it makes them immune to Monster Slayer. A character on Chariot is immune via their new unit type to the two main "auto kill" USR-s.

I sort of agree with Morgen. While there are certainly scenarios where such an action would be fitting it being a "go to tactic" to me is imersion breaking and would not look favourable on such actions even if I acknowledge them as legitimate.

Re: Speculating/Wish listing on the High Elf Arcane Journal

There used to be several magical institutioms in the Old World before Teclis established the Collegues. There was the wizards guild in Marienburg, magic school in Middenheim, wizards attached to the church of Taal in Talabheim, that is at least what I remember of the top of my head.
