Hi there.
It was a calculation specifically for Ulthuan with some imprecise/rough estimates for other places. I think it should still be somewhere in the background section, probably towards the end since it happened 18 or so years ago

Since I also play Dwarfs I can assume your opponent had the combo MRoHesitation+RoConfusion and then proceeded to wreck faceTyrrenAzureblade wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 8:58 pm I once made the mistake of charging Dwarf Hammerers in their front with my Cavalry Prince and Silver Helms, and won't be making that mistake again.

Re: LOTS of Archers ?
All that said, I don't think shooting is the thing that's going to win us games all on its own. It's a supplement. The more games I get in, the more I think building lists like we did in 7th, with bare minimum core and focusing on our Special and Rare choices, is what's going to get us wins. And fo...

The main difference is that it makes them immune to Monster Slayer. A character on Chariot is immune via their new unit type to the two main "auto kill" USR-s.

I have noticed from the games I observed that over time people have pushed terrain to the sides with most tables starting to resemble WD promo shots.

I sort of agree with Morgen. While there are certainly scenarios where such an action would be fitting it being a "go to tactic" to me is imersion breaking and would not look favourable on such actions even if I acknowledge them as legitimate.

Re: Speculating/Wish listing on the High Elf Arcane Journal
There used to be several magical institutioms in the Old World before Teclis established the Collegues. There was the wizards guild in Marienburg, magic school in Middenheim, wizards attached to the church of Taal in Talabheim, that is at least what I remember of the top of my head.

I concern regarding Teclis is that he might not feature since he has a model in AoS (a rather derpy looking one but still current).

Both Tyrion and Teclis were "players" at the time ToW takes place. Their "introduction" happened in 2173, so they would have had a whole century to establish their renown.

A BSB can indeed ride a Griffon or a Dragon if with Queen's Cavalier honour. Though I am unsure what banner do you mean under "Banner of Avelorn" in T9A?

Also in this edition with how easy it is to reliably get off spells with a lvl 4 Can you please elaborate? I am interested in your thought process on how you came to that conclusion because there are only a handful of spells even a Level 4 can cast reliably in ToW. The casting values of spells due ...

Re: How much of a problem is Impetuous on a Prince on Dragon?
It's ridiculous to assume somehow it's always going to be bad. For random games I wouldn't care and it is somewhat in character with Caledorian background but at an event where there is a limited number of turns/games that determine the eventual ranking the risk of that happening even in one of the...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
All, Having read the counter charge rule and blood of caledor honour, if our characters join dragon prince's, do the dragon prince's lose counter charge?? Our characters do not gain the counter charge rule via the honour. The counter charge rules states all models in the unit must have the counter ...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
There has been little to no downside since 8th ed. started. Perhaps but I think a reduced lords allowance, more in line with 6th ed (so ideally 1 per 2k) would solve this. What are people's thoughts on shadow warriors now? I'm considering a unit of 5 with chariot runners and feigned flight (they ca...

Think part is wanting to sell big, more profitable kits too; explains the bone dragon kit that was frankly totally unnecessary and makes little fluff or thematic sense either. Annoys me that it wasn't at least just a giant crocodile, at least that would have been themed. I am currently assembling m...

Why not the Ogre Blade combo? Its effectiveness vs monsters is roughly comparable to Dragon Slaying Sword but it gives you so much more versatility against everything else.

Re: Spell Generation
Having spent the past 8 years with T9A way of writing rules and layout W:ToW books are too "messy" from an ease of use PoV. They might be easier to read through as the text is not as dry but finding solutions is a bit of a drag.

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
I would prefer a ceiling to any unit cost... (Even at 30%, you could came out a 600pts fully kitted uber dragon lords at 2000pts). Also stop to 60 men unit shenanigans... So to be honest: 500pt unit limit 0-3 to everything, on top of other limitation. At least 3+ non-single piece units. Unit max wi...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
The whole Rule of Three is completely rediculous in my opinion. Yes, you'll run into that one player who wants to bring 18 (or whatever) Gyrocopters. They are not the issue. A much bigger issue is that tooled up Prince on Stardragon with a 2+, 5++, 5++ save people can bring at 1500 pts. Yes, you ca...

If you are expecting you will be playing against VC regularly some way of getting Magical Attacks on the Prince is a priority. The last thing you want is for the Dragon to be locked in by an Ethereal unit.

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
I think 5 in the front rank is the max one should use. I have some experience with it from 6-8th ed Tomb Kings. It is doable but requires a fair bit of chaff/anti-chaff support.
edit @ also I would almost always pair it with an Elementalist wizard to fully exploit all those Impact Hits.

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
I noticed that characters in light chariots can join units. Perhaps that could become a thing, putting a loaded Prince or BSB in a Tiranoc Chariot, add some impact hits and killing potential to a block, as well as fill a bunch of spots for rank bonus maintenance If the character does not fit the un...

Interesting read. I haven't even tried to make any army above 2000 pts. The closest I got to that was transferring my current T9A HE army into ToW points to see what is the difference.

Browsing GW's site I decided to try and make an effective list out of models that could thematically be used for HE while being currently sold by GW and with only minimal conversion work needed if wanted to make the force more Old World themed. Prince @ 368 pts [Lumineth Antilope Rider dynamic confi...
