advice needed: 1500 not overly comeptitive league
Hi all, I'm going to take part in a liitle club league. I have only a few games under my belt and I find HE more difficult than in other editions, especially on low point counts such as 1500. The intention is not to be overly competitive, but to be frank I do not trust all players in that, So I want...

Re: REIMAGINING OLD HIGH ELF MODELS
If I would start now, this series would have been a perfect candidate.
I'm goint towards the finish of a pretty large army that is almost 30 years in the making (and contains one model painted in '88 I think). So no, I'm not going to restart.

Re: Playing Against Brets
Griffons have still movement 6, which isn't great, but helps them to get into combat with the infantry. In addition, the Bret player has to make his LD-checks, and you have Vaul's Unmaking. It's all not great and risky, but not hopeless.

Re: First steps in ToW
Smashing game to (almost) the last elf (HE vs. DE) on Saturday. Interesting game, in which my swordmasters were eliminated by a miscast in turn 2, challenges were important, and in the end the game was decided by my hero on griffon rolling badly. Mistakes were made, especially in reading the book: t...

Re: First steps in ToW
Yes, it was unbalanced with 700 points. Second game tonight. We played the meeting engagement (1500) , and the gunline couldn't deploy if ull force. By the second turn one flank was rolled up, including the big wizard, and then my four remaining silver helms, who had belatedly entered, syutably pump...

It was my first game, I didn't really duck into it.
EDIT: I had high agic, the school with the highest casting values. I should have chosen Battle Magic.

I played a Level 1 and indeed it was difficult to get a spell off. My oopponent had a level 2, and fared only slightly better.

First steps in ToW
Last week a little 700 pts game to learn against empire. Gunlines are as deadly as ever.
I am an WAP addict, but ToW is getting height at our club, so I play. No real pro's or cons yet, but it works. Let's start out with playing more.

Re: Exploring Magic Systems in Fantasy Worlds
In roleplaying I prefer low magic systems. Magic items are very rare and magic is powerful, but rare and expensive.
In most warhammer variants it is too common, too much a 'must' in st cases. Although I like the game a lot.

Dragon/Lion Rampant
Hi all, Just played a game of Lion Rampant, one of the several very simple Osprey Wargames of Daniel Mersey. Dragon (Fantasy) and Lion ('Historical') Rampant are two very similar games based on the same system of 'big skirmishes'. You need a 40-60 figures, of which the man sized conisis of 6 or 12 m...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.
And anorther interesting game agains Darkelves, 3000 pts. My opponent had an army of MSU, with several units of dark rider FC, harpies, shades, and darkshards, a Medusa, and two CO-chariots. As hammers he had a Hydra, an Chimaira with rider, a unit of Cold One Knights with Malus Darkblade, and a 10 ...

No problem that cannot be solved with sabots.
I'm very willing to try the game, but f I don't like it, I'll gladly return tot WAP, Renaissance or even 9th Age.

No prob. It was a great game, it was very close, so his victory was deserved. We play a narrative campaign, not a competition. The fun is in the story, not the winning.

Welcome back. I'm really jealous you have the middle guy with the big sword and the shield. It's about the last model I miss in my collection.

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.
Very tense second game in a my campaign agains skaven. I had the advantage of surprise, but only 1000 points against 1500. The clue was that the warmachines saved in this game would be available in the rest of the campaig. My opponent decided he would go for vermintide and took no warmachines at all...

I would no conclude that from this fight. Men at arms with sword and shield should have hard time against a fighty hero on an beast, I think.

And this time a loss against Chaos, pointswise a close call but regarding losses not so close.
It is an interesting little game.

Re: Age of Fantasy
Another litle game against Chaos (Regiments) Close win. I really can recommend this game. I don't know if it will hold in the long term, but it is quite simple to learn and takes some thinking to master. Lw model count. Quick to set up. And finished within an hour or two.

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.
The last few weeks two battles. 1 1)A small battle against Skaven. It was the first in a small campaign: the Skaven had to storm a building. 500 points, My White Lions were easily destroyed defending the outer wall, but my Warriors held the building. 2) A battle against Lizards. I tried a Lord of Ae...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.
We decided to take some magic items, heroes and units we usually don't take, to try them out or just for being nice, Good call and sometimes that surprisingly reveals more interesting or flat out stronger options in some areas. Yes, it did. stormfiends, How do these perform in WAP? They can be deva...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.
So, that was some time. But another win under my belt, albeit a very close one. The Skaven player and I decided we wanted to do things a bit differently. In WAP I think most players have a few 'go to' items, tactics and builds, the 'you need this' stuff to have some chance of winning. For High Elves...

It was, it is a nice geme. Haven't tried it since, but nice, quick and not very complicated is the best description. It is very much made for campaign play. The fluff is less deep than Warhammer, it is pretty generic.

(Almost) first step in 9th age.
Second time I played a gamelet of 9th Age. 1000 points Bretonnia (Aquitain) against Lizardmen. Two units of 7 and 6 respectively of Feudal Knights, a unit of Men at Arms, a BSB and a Lady with Druidic magic. Agains a hero on mount, a unit of 10 saurus and a cavalry saurus unit of 6. My Men-at-Arms h...
