Re: (Almost) first step in 9th age.

I would no conclude that from this fight. Men at arms with sword and shield should have hard time against a fighty hero on an beast, I think.

Re: Age of Fantasy

And this time a loss against Chaos, pointswise a close call but regarding losses not so close.

It is an interesting little game.

Marching and countercharging seem to come directly form Warhammer Ancient Battles. Interesting.

Re: Age of Fantasy

Another litle game against Chaos (Regiments) Close win. I really can recommend this game. I don't know if it will hold in the long term, but it is quite simple to learn and takes some thinking to master. Lw model count. Quick to set up. And finished within an hour or two.

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

The last few weeks two battles. 1 1)A small battle against Skaven. It was the first in a small campaign: the Skaven had to storm a building. 500 points, My White Lions were easily destroyed defending the outer wall, but my Warriors held the building. 2) A battle against Lizards. I tried a Lord of Ae...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

We decided to take some magic items, heroes and units we usually don't take, to try them out or just for being nice, Good call and sometimes that surprisingly reveals more interesting or flat out stronger options in some areas. Yes, it did. stormfiends, How do these perform in WAP? They can be deva...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

So, that was some time. But another win under my belt, albeit a very close one. The Skaven player and I decided we wanted to do things a bit differently. In WAP I think most players have a few 'go to' items, tactics and builds, the 'you need this' stuff to have some chance of winning. For High Elves...

Re: Oathmark

It was, it is a nice geme. Haven't tried it since, but nice, quick and not very complicated is the best description. It is very much made for campaign play. The fluff is less deep than Warhammer, it is pretty generic.

(Almost) first step in 9th age.

Second time I played a gamelet of 9th Age. 1000 points Bretonnia (Aquitain) against Lizardmen. Two units of 7 and 6 respectively of Feudal Knights, a unit of Men at Arms, a BSB and a Lady with Druidic magic. Agains a hero on mount, a unit of 10 saurus and a cavalry saurus unit of 6. My Men-at-Arms h...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

Thanks. The Merwyrm was essential, it secured the flank and did a lot of killing in the end. The unit was sorely depleted and therefore could not benefit form the 'strengt in numbers' rule, and was in the minority. So it lost the combat so dramatically that there was no chance of holding (no insane ...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

Very nice, tense game against Skaven. We played Blood&Glory, which is perhaps my favorite in WAP. I had a LIFE 4th mage, a Loremaster, a Seahelm BSB, a big unit of SG (34), a rather big on of Swordmasters (19), some Shadow Warriors, some archers. 2 RBT's, a Merwyrm, an Eagle and a Phoenix. My op...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

Yes, I've used Warriors with 2weapons earlier, they do well, but in this case I fought Darkelves, and MA+shield (minus the -1 AP of the darkelves) gave a decent save of 5+ agains shooting and the Melusai in CC. I did need the luck on the Leadership front there as well though.

Sunday up against Skaven.

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

Tense game agains Darkelves. Belannaer, 1st lvl mage (life), Seahelm BSB, 34 Seaguard, 21 SM, 5 SW, 10 Warriors Sword&Shield, 10 archers, Merwyrm, Frost Phoenix, 2 RBT's. Lord on Dragon, Mounted mage (death), BSB, 20ish Darkshards, 10 of those magical riders, 2 units of Harpies, a Medusa, 5 Melu...

Re: Age of Fantasy

I played the Regiments version Saturday.

High Elves against Chaos. As nice and tense as the first game I played.

Comment from my opponent: even at 1000 points I could bring a very varied army.

Played my first game two weeks ago, nice, quick game. I'll keep you posted.

Actuallly it was my second game, I tried it a fwe years ago in a 6 player game. But that was not representative, I think.

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

Has been some time. I had a tough battle against WoC, Tzeench. I had a metal archmage, a loremaster, a big unit of seaguards (33, seahelm BSB), 2 RBT's, and Swordmasters, SW's. First show of my frost Phoenix. Lore of metal did well, managed to kill his wizard in turn II. What an onslaught, it was a ...

Age of Fantasy

Hi all, Anuone tried the One Page Rules fantasy rulesets? Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

A major disadvantage of our Sisters is that they are not very manoeverable, they can only wheel or reform, and do not have a musician. If they wheel, their shooting is halved, if they reform, they cannot shoot at all. You always need other missile troops to neutralize minor threats in inprobable pla...

Re: Rules clarification on stacking ward saves in WAP

Against about anything S3 they are really OK.

I often have unit of warriors present to have the opportunity to occupy the tower. Often it is a unit of 10 with double weapon that I can use as skirmishers as well. With WPN and Shield I would go for 15 I think.

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

I had some serious problems, but if my fighty units would have had sme synergy I could have done something. Now my merwyrm had to hold off a dragon and a supertreemen - which went remarkably, but after a few turns that went bad. All fire was concentrated on my swords and my knights, and my axes and ...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

I had a difficult game today agains woodelves. We had both a list based on CC. I had a lot of bad luck: we played the daw attack and most of my main units were very out of place, halving my aattck force for a significant part of the game. A lot of bad rolls, and good rolls for my opponent. Very few ...
