Griffons have still movement 6, which isn't great, but helps them to get into combat with the infantry. In addition, the Bret player has to make his LD-checks, and you have Vaul's Unmaking. It's all not great and risky, but not hopeless.

EDIT: I had high agic, the school with the highest casting values. I should have chosen Battle Magic.

I played a Level 1 and indeed it was difficult to get a spell off. My oopponent had a level 2, and fared only slightly better.

Last week a little 700 pts game to learn against empire. Gunlines are as deadly as ever.

I am an WAP addict, but ToW is getting height at our club, so I play. No real pro's or cons yet, but it works. Let's start out with playing more.

In roleplaying I prefer low magic systems. Magic items are very rare and magic is powerful, but rare and expensive.

In most warhammer variants it is too common, too much a 'must' in st cases. Although I like the game a lot.

Another game of AoF, this time the skirmish version. Also fun, also quite instinctive.

No problem that cannot be solved with sabots.

I'm very willing to try the game, but f I don't like it, I'll gladly return tot WAP, Renaissance or even 9th Age.

No prob. It was a great game, it was very close, so his victory was deserved. We play a narrative campaign, not a competition. The fun is in the story, not the winning.

Very tense second game in a my campaign agains skaven. I had the advantage of surprise, but only 1000 points against 1500. I would no conclude that from this fight. Men at arms with sword and shield should have hard time against a fighty hero on an beast, I think.

And this time a loss against Chaos, pointswise a close call but regarding losses not so close.

It is an interesting little game.

Nothing spectacular, and I find that good.

Marching and countercharging seem to come directly form Warhammer Ancient Battles. Interesting.

Another litle game against Chaos (Regiments) Close win. I really can recommend this game. I don't know if it will hold in the long term, but it is quite simple to learn and takes some thinking to master. Lw model count. Quick to set up. And finished within an hour or two.

So, that was some time. But another win under my belt, albeit a very close one. The Skaven player and I decided we wanted to do things a bit differently. It was, it is a nice geme. Haven't tried it since, but nice, quick and not very complicated is the best description. It is very much made for campaign play. The fluff is less deep than Warhammer, it is pretty generic.
