Re: The Learning Curve
As discussed in another thread I'm new to T9A so this thread will follow my faltering footsteps through learning the game and list development. I'm hampered initially by the models I have so this is the first army I'm likely to put on the field: Here's what I'm starting out with: Characters (1314 p...

I think I've got a bunch of IoB SM models - what sort of price are you thinking? I'm UK based. PM me if you want

Mantic might suit your aesthetic? They're not to my taste but they match the description of slender elves to a T.

Re: What colour to paint spearelf shield 'bosses'
At some point I'd like to get wood elf ones, I think tehy're gorgeous and with the right paint job would look just right as highbornes, but as I say, got these cheap and they're what i'm working on right now. they're not terrible, htey're just not the best. (they're also really small in scale - try ...

Re: What colour to paint spearelf shield 'bosses'
I'll see if I can sort out getting something onto photobucket SA. I would hack them off, but there's a few where they've come off and cos they've been polycemented they leave the shield melted and it's hard to shave it off, and given the prominence of the shields, it's hard to cover up also. Even pu...

What colour to paint spearelf shield 'bosses'
This week I've been painting up a batch of badly-painted spear elves I got cheap. They started life with me primed black, with some silver on their skirts and chestplates, red helmets and...that's about it. So I've painted in the faces, given them red robes (with a white tunic seperating the chainma...

Re: How to paint white lions (the actual lions!)?
OK - I'm back on this again... Anyone know what the up-to-date GW colours are? Also, is there a handy crib to what is meant by foundation, base, layer, etc. I've cracked out my paints for the first time in a long time and am slowly (painfully) finding out which ones are still useable and which have ...

Re: Magnets
Thanks guys! I have ordered 200 from element games...they're reasonably priced and while there's possibly slightly cheaper out there, I trust them as traders and actually quite like to support them on such a negligible cost difference. I reckoned on only needing c.100 for what I'm taking with me to ...

I've wilfully resisted the urge to quote Jesse Pinkman in my title thread :D ;) Anyway, I'm now back on my HBE after a brief foray into the world of beast herds, and I'm taking them to the Team Tournament in Cardiff next month. If i can get it ordered and done in time, I'd like to magnetise the mode...

Re: Mages and Wizards in 9th Age
Fair point, I hadn't read it like that. I still think they can have a decent impact though, but you don't *need* them, and with points so tight you can save points without them and not be crippled. I've been toying lately with putting an 'arch'mage on a dragon (not an OotFH, but a regular Divination...

Re: Mages and Wizards in 9th Age
I don't see survivability as being an issue, or at any rate, no more of an issue than it ever was. You can (and probably should) keep your mage out of combat in an archer-type bunker, and if you're worried you can always get a 4++ or 3++/5++ via the cloak. The real issue as I see it is witchfire, wh...

Re: 2,400 Dragon List First Attempt
I'm at work, but posting to follow - I can add some details/comments when I'm next online properly. But yes - 1.2 has changed magic (10 paths) and points (effectively all points are doubled - this allows greater granularity for pricing things, particularly at the lower end of the scale). There are o...

Re: If you could get any GW model...
If I were to buy a model (from the currently available range) just to assemble and paint it it would be the Terrorgheist - such a thematic miniature! I know it's cheating and doesn't help Rod, but I always thought this was the coolest model: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zaWx68QTQok/UKPt1LTLZ5I/AAAAAAA...

OMG Smaug yes! But I assume your vouchers won't stretch that far, so... Re: Infantry devo - wasDragonMage list evolution from Bristo
It really comes down to what kind of army you like playing. I know some people who really like the tactical side of Dwarves, trying to get your opponent to do what you want, simply by focusing on specific parts and making the most use of what limited mobility you have. But it's not my kind of army....

Re: Infantry devo - wasDragonMage list evolution from Bristo
Played a game against ogres the other night and got very frustrated at how little I could dictate teh flow or even do - we could have saved ourselves two turns by just saying "remove X% from the closest two units and deploy within charge range of my army". Incidentally, one conclusion I ca...

Re: Infantry devo - wasDragonMage list evolution from Bristo
It was a fun read. Pity you lost, but it was a close game with a few swings both ways. And those are usually the best games to play. From your deployment I was a bit worried that you were spread out too much. The lancers at the top for instance didn't get to do much most of the game. Did you feel t...
