Re: Nyeave's plog - Lothern Skycutter
And there we go. The skycutter is done. What an absolutely gorgeous model. It was really fun to paint, although definately not a beginner kit when it comes to the assembly. I had alot of fun planing and making the base, but I definately need to practise working with water effects. I struggled, espec...

There we go. One finished beast of burden: https://i.imgur.com/jJu8wQfh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kC8SHsJh.jpg And a small teaser for the rest. It will be done once I am done building up layers of resin: https://i.imgur.com/l2DnwpXh.jpg Now I just need to figure out how to take some less dark pictures

Re: Nyeave's plog - Skycutter WIP
Interrupted by several cases of Covid Hope you're feeling a lot better now Nyeave. Thank you. We are all on top again, but the weeks after were marked by an awfull lack of concentration. Not fun tbh. Actually quite pleased with my first attempt at airbrush blending. Very impressive. It looks almost...

Re: Nyeave's plog - A few Skeletons
Hi all A short update: Interrupted by several cases of Covid the skycytter is finally close to completion. The boat and crew is done and I am working on the base. Working with resin takes quite some time though as it has to dry 24h between each application and as I try to build it quite high, we are...

I think black will work nicely. You need something to contrast and accent the wonderfull light bases

Re: Nyeave's plog - HE mage finished
I am not too fond of highly weathered armies. I like them clean 😉. It might have gotten lost in the plog somewhere but my idea for the army is a rainwashed, and thus somewhat "fresh" looking, army of skellies and ghosts only. That means armored skellies for skelleton warriors, unarmored fo...

Re: Nyeave's plog - HE mage finished
I promised myself I would paint a few skellies in between other projects as I just can't sit down and paint 20 at a time. So here is another 5 including a champion https://i.imgur.com/Ho5Fapah.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bX5ZFTKh.jpg Next up. I finally started on my Skycutter. It's going to be a quite a...

Re: Nyeave's plog - HE mage finished
Thank you all for all the nice comments. About the plants and the fire. As was said I guess the keyword is "magic". I had to try and tie the model in with the rest of the army instead of putting in scorched grass. My though was that maybe the flame he is on, isnt a real flame but more an i...

Re: Nyeave's plog - HE mage finished
I think that the white robe is excellent, what is there not to be pleased about? It is a very skillful job and I wish I could paint to the same standard. Thanks alot. You cant see it in the picture, but up cloase it's somewhat grainy and you can see the brush strokes. It's not bad as such, but it's...

Re: Nyeave's plog - HE mage WIP
I finally managed to finish the Mage. After painting the bracers I was so close to give up on the idea of doing the metals non-metallic, but luckily I decided to press on - how else am I going to relearn. In the end I must admit I am very happy with how he turned out. The only thing I am not really ...

The bronze is just brown and will become nmm gold - maybe that's even worse... might have to rethink that into silver.
The cloak should contrast nicely though once it has been layered up

Re: Nyeave's plog - HE mage WIP
Thanks for all the suggestions on gaming tables. I have also seen some roll out mats that looked really nice but I might be a bit too old for Floorhammer now :) Mage update. I did the tip of the staff yesterday - Ii turned out exactly like I wanted. Funny how sometimes, what you want, isn’t what you...

Re: Nyeave's plog - Back from the dead...
Mage WIP. I guess the hard part is over (robe and flame), but damn I forgot how frustrating white can be to paint. To get it smooth I have to thin it down so much it just flows everywhere! Ahh well I will just have to practise some more and hope the blue cloak and the rest distracts a bit from the r...

Re: Fitzlock's High Elves - The Glittering Host of Avelorn
Really nice job there. I can see what you mean with the red gem, but on the other hand the gem looks really good at the moment. I sometimes think you don't nescesarilly need to contrast every little detail as long as the overall contrast on the model is good. Something to think about, although I tot...

Back from the dead - take two... Hi everyone. A few years ago I popped back in here to say I might return, buuuut then I disappeared off the grid again. Turns out at that time I didn't even finish a single model before I lost interest. So lets try one more time... What a crazy year it has been. Don'...

Re: Tips for painting White Lion pelts?
They are in the old GW colors:
Dheneb Stone washed with devlan mud, followed by a drybrush of Dheneb Stone and then White. You could probably get a far better result by painting the highlights on instead of drybrushing but it will ofc take alot longer

Re: Tips for painting White Lion pelts?
A little late to the discussion but here is my input. It’s a long time since I painted any white lions and they were one of the first units I finished so they are not my finest work, but I went with a more greyish tone as a base. http://i1160.photobucket.com/albums/q486/Nyeave27/IMG_1653_zpsb3bbc9d7...

Re: Nyeave's plog - Back from the dead...
Yeah I can see from a forum search, that a lot of the names I remember (like Nexs, Tzineris, solith and Aicanor) disappeared without trace sometime during 2015. Too bad – hope they manage to come back as well. Btw what happened to the monthly painting challenge? I remember it being a great source of...

Yeah I thought so too. Thats why I started on a few rank and file skeletons just to get into it again. After that maybe one of the many mages I have lying around to try some detail work again.

Re: Nyeave's plog - Back from the dead...
Hello everybody, long time no see. I just realised I hadn't visited this page for 2½ year now and that I haven't painted for the same amount of time. Well - I went and got myself a spinal disc prolapse 2 years years ago and haven't been able to sit for longer than 20 minutes since. Together with the...

Re: Warscrolls
The lack of any decent way to balance armies is a little disturbing. I mean in theory i can bring 3 dragons against 5 spearmen and i'll apparently be the underdog and get a sudden death roll... Appart from that it looks interesting although magic seems very bland and there is no incentive not to sta...

I read the entire new rule set and I must admit for a casual player like myself it looks quite interesting. It’s simple and I can play it on a regular table (my dining table was a foot to narrow for 8th edition tables so either you lacked most of your deployment zone or flyers could charge first tur...
