Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog-QCR Prep
So ended up using list 2 with the high magic bus for QCR, went 3 major wins and 2 minor losses (score of 77/100) leaving me tied for 24th after getting a comp score of 10. I'm going to try to type up some abbreviated battle reports in addition to posting up some pics of the other armies (there was a...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog-QCR Prep
First off, thank you Andros and SpellArcher for your thoughtful advice. SpellArcher, at your suggestion I made the list tweaks, my thoughts below: Pros are: this list hits a lot harder, 4 bolt throwers and 4 st 7 attacks from the prince is way more character/monster killing damage output. I can more...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog-QCR Prep
As the list submission is tomorrow I would really appreciate everyone's thoughts on lore for the archmage in the bus. I'm very tempted to change the archmage to life and drop the amulet and iron curse in exchange for the stubborn crown. This would give the bus much needed stubborn and probably make ...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog-QCR Prep
So I lined up a game against a DoC opponent, which is probably an 8-12 depending on the exact build. My opponent brought a fairly tough army, I'd say a 7/10 on the scale of tough DoC armies. He had (I honestly don't remember exactly what gifts he got, but I know the thirster did not get 2+ armor): W...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog-QCR Prep
So, as the deadline for list QCR's list submission nears I got a couple of practice games in with my new proposed list, which after SpellArcher's good catch is as follows: Yvraine (Anointed of Asuryan): Golden Crown of Atrazar; Enchanted Shield; Giant Blade 285 • Frostheart Phoenix 240 Archmage: Dis...

Re: MSU HE - 2700 vs Empire - UB 7.06 - Prologue
Really looking forward to this battle. The empire army is definitely out there, it'll be interesting to see if the sheer weight of numbers on swordmasters side helps to bring down some big targets. You won't regret the second bolt thrower against this opponent. I'm really surprised to see the reaver...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog-QCR Prep
Hey all, So I've only gotten a game or two in with the high elves since the last tourney. My hobby/gaming time has been largely devoted to my tomb kings and Nagash (wow was he a lot of work!). But, now I am prepping for QCR in San Francisco. I set myself a few guidelines for my list: -No BotWD -Have...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog.Local Tourney-Game 2 Up
So going into Game 3 I was at table 1 facing off against an ogre opponent. Yes, that’s right, of the last 3 tourney’s I’ve been to I have faced ogres in game 3 on top tables every time. One of the few opponents I can’t use my 3 thunderstomps against. That being said, I was much happier to have Pguar...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog..Local Tourney-Need Adv
@ R.E. Lee The general is on high magic for 3 reasons: Wards Healing Arcane Unforging vs VC, WoC, HE, DE, you get the idea. So many lists revolve around 2-3 important items, this spell is a hard counter. I agree a more fighty lord is probably ideal, but the wards, healing and potential wyssans make ...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog..Local Tourney-Need Adv
Ok, so clearly people were having a tough time choosing between the two armies, so I came up with a hybrid that I am pretty happy with: Archmage: Talisman of Preservation; Ironcurse Icon; Power Stone; Level 4 Wizard; Moon Dragon 590 Noble: The Reaver Bow; Shield of the Merwyrm; Dragon armour; Battle...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog..Swedish Comp GT List
So a work conflict has meant that I can't make the tournament using Swedish this spring. So now I am gearing up for a smaller tourney, 16 players, next weekend. 2500 pts Mainly battle line scenarios with some simple objectives. Win(16)/Draw(10)/Loss(4) with 4 bonus points available each game. 50% lo...

Re: 2000 pts allariele the radiant army list (end times rule
Just a quick comment, 21 white lions is not nearly enough. On average two casts of dreaded 13th will kill the unit and characters. Basically an auto-lose. I'd recommend losing either alith or caradryan(probably Caradryan) and taking at least 13 more white lions to give this unit a chance of survivin...

Re: The Host of Tor Cyroc: Army Blog..Swedish Comp GT List
I think this list really has a lot of potential as it comps out at around a 13 and packs in a credible SH bus, a 3++ ward pguard block and a star dragon. I feel like the high magic ward/trinket/scroll is decent defense to the various magical threats to the bus. I do worry about the magic phase witho...

Re: Mals Blog- Colonial Carnage Swed Comp GT Results
Have been considering a similar list for a tourney using Swedish in April. Great to see it perform well. Did you have a flamespyre? I didn't see it in the army list, they are extremely Swedish efficient. Did you find the 21 pguard felt too small? What did our army comp at? Looking forward to the bat...

Re: Other Chaos Gods than the Big 4?
I'm heavily considering the horned rat as I pretty much hate everything about skaven. I am struggling a little bit to connect the helves background with an all consuming crusade to destroy the horned rat as helves in general have not had much skaven interaction in the fluff. If I had to go with a ch...

Other Chaos Gods than the Big 4?
Hey all, I'm working on some of the background for my HE and new TK army and find myself in need of a Chaos god to destroy. Frankly, I think it would be a bit ambitious to target one of the Big 4(may have to depending on responses) and was hoping there were some lesser Chaos deities out there I coul...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
So I just finished ETimes Khaine. I think they did a decent job bringing the story full circle and I think we're poised for a really interesting conclusion. No doubt the book was upsetting for high elf players, but I think that was the intention. With 3 elves as avatars of magic and our combined for...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
@Tech less Very good questions, I think I didn't explain myself clearly, let me try again: The Aenerion drawing the sword of khaine event left a scar in the racial memory of the elves. His arrogance and warriors pride nearly led to the downfall of the elves(he didn't support the vortex and Caledor h...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
I said some redeeming virtues, not that he redeemed himself. Like I've said before, this story is not over, malekith does have an opportunity to redeem himself by saving everyone and (likely) dying in the process. But, if the high elves aversion to khaine/sword of khaine is strong enough that they m...

Thanks shadeseraph, really thoughtful response. I suddenly realize I don't know what I'm talking about at all.
I guess we should be glad the elves didn't make the same decision as you, or there wouldn't be any left.
Are you waiting to actually read the book before you quit?

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
Here's the thing, I totally understand where everyone is coming from on not liking malekith taking over. But what you really have is a lesser of two evils situation: You're an elf, who do you side with? Malekith, who apparently has some redeeming virtues and is the chosen of your creator god(and the...

Re: Campaign of the end of times Rumors & Leaks
The fact that imrik doesn't multiwound hurts him when compared to Karl, but he's still a very solid choice, compare him to a properly kitted star dragon prince with no combo profile and I think he's worth the extra 170ish pts. Malekith on the other hand is pure awesome. I still can't believe they di...
