Re: Painting again

They really should have made Warhammer more like AoS (or kept it more like 4th/5th) and used warmaster as the big battle game. I really wish they had done something similar with WH. With a game one step up from Mordheim in size but keeping WH for larger battles. What was that? Perhaps 6th ed. when ...

Re: Under the vaults of Elugin's Arcanaeum - The Beginning

How did you manage the stars? For the isolated stars I did dots with a very thin brush (I don't remember if I used 00 or 000). For the white diffuse glow of the Milky Way I used drops of very thinned down white paint. This part is trickier because the drops created unpleasant rings, I had to re-pai...

Phelonius the elf, astronomer mage. The work itself was surprisingly quick, other things got me distracted. I'm very pleased with the night sky on the tunic, my first attempt at wet blending. First the pic that inspired me, than the model itself. https://data.whicdn.com/images/24495764/original.jpg ...

Re: NOW SISTERS OF SERENS - LastSword Miniatures News

It would indeed make for a great White Lion. The only thing for me is that he is a bit too broad chested. I always imagine Elves as being very slender and elegant. But that's just me perhaps. Rod I agree. But if we stick with the Caledor parallel, elves from Caledor are stronger than average, they ...

Re: Under the vaults of Elugin's Arcanaeum - The Beginning

So, I've been away for a very long time. I would say "family business" since the family became larger and I've been away from brushes for one year. It took me a couple of weeks to finish what I was working at before the break, and more than two weeks to take decent pics... And here she is,...

Re: Under the vaults of Elugin's Arcanaeum - The Beginning

Hi all, after a long time I'm back. A new job and a relocation took their toll, but I've been able to paint a little bit. Eurk is ready! It took me a long time to finish him, I didn't like the skin tone I used the first time (reddish) and repainted with the greenish colors. I still have to varnish b...

Re: Merging a bit more with Druchii and Asrai?

I have mixed feelings about it. Merging with the other elves forums would probably bring new life to Ulthuan but... I know, I am not one of the most active members, but Ulthuan to me is more than the number of daily posts. In a sense it is the last remains of 20 years of gaming and passion wiped out...

Re: Under the vaults of Elugin's Arcanaeum - The Beginning

Some updates with more conversions. I battle brother at the Grey Knights forum suggested that the Olaf model could be modified to become a two-hander (as the actual character is). I studied the model for a while and decided it was worth trying. First, the shield arm. Since it was an assembly kit I d...

Re: Under the vaults of Elugin's Arcanaeum - The Beginning

I'm not sold on Naidra. The leaning back pose looks a bit silly to me. Also the outfit can't be practical... Though that's a fairly standard female fantasy outfit I guess. I see what you mean. I have to admit that the leaning back pose is partly my fault, the way I re-based it now enhances the effe...

Under the vaults of Elugin's Arcanaeum - Project Mystara

Hi all, here I am back after a long time. I have been working only on a model, from my Gray Knights range. For those of you familiar with the Dread Knight model, I converted it quite a lot, to give it a more dynamic pose and a teleport device. Then it took me forever to paint it. http://www.kazadieu...

I've been sidetracked by other projects, delayed by things of life, and my painting is as slow as ever. But finally I'm back! The GK squad is almost ready, as you can see. I still have to paint the blades, some blue OSL from the weapons, and take care of the basing. http://www.kazadieurk.eu/pics/gk/...

What a superb project: I can't wait to see it finished.

For the name, aim high: it's high elves we're talking about. I'm thinking at something like:

The Lords of the Seas

or

The Lords of the Seas go to War.

Your work is amazing. I agree with you, 6th ed. artwork was the best ever. I wish I had the talent and skills to bring my models to that level, like you are doing.

I'm really sorry about the crash and I wish to get back on track soon: there a great numbers of your fans here, waiting for updates.

I've been using NON aceton nail polish (and repeat NON aceton). A bath of no more than one hour and than the old toothbrush. You may try a longer bath, but test one step at a time (once I tried one night and it ruined my models so, yes, ~12 hours is too much).

Time for some updates... not much to be honest. For the GK squad. All metals base done. Washes done as well (blue wash in recesses, then black everywhere and devlan mud over shining gold). Now it's time to highlight. http://www.kazadieurk.eu/pics/gk/gkss4b.jpg Same thing for the Elves. Before highl...

Re: How do you add variety within your color scheme?

Close to be rainbow. You could actually use different colors instead of blue: one unit with green, one with red, and so forth. Since the "non-white" color goes on very small surfaces, the effect is not so rainbowish.

Re: Solith's painting log

Perhaps I should drop the sword and give him a closed book on that hand or something, hmm... I was thinking just about that sword. Did you try with a hand glowing in power? Something like flames rising from his hand or, to make it easier, some of the globes in the hand of the mages or the loremaster.

The Herald of Asuryan is coming?

The shadow warrior head with fiery eyes could fit well, even if it is not usually "magey".

As for the staff, don't we have something with a bird shape (male it a phoenix)?

Nice model but... but... Yes, there are two "buts" First, the picture does not give justice to your skills, but (one more but, it's getting a habit :P ) you already said that. Second. I think you should have gone for some "stronger" color. As I see it, to make it a really outstan...

Some may find the "classic" white-blue scheme boring, I do love it. Well done. That old 3rd edition chariot is moving me to tears (it's one of the few old edition I miss, ans still regret not buying it at the time, but I was a newbye...). And I love your old style Everqueen as well (so muc...
