Re: A New Blog

Thanks for the interesting report. It seems magic was key. Clearly you both thought it would be, since both scrolls were used by turn 2. That foot of Gork helped to put the bus in a dangerous situation early on, while convocation ripped through a couple of your units. Very close after turn 1 - anoth...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

First of all, great to see you back Seredain, although the lack of a cavalry prince seems a bit heretical! Honestly though, it must have been interesting to try a more unusual character build, and it was interesting to read about it too. As to the game... very quick and decisive! Shame you couldn't ...

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/09/14/watch-grand-cathay-come-to-life-in-an-epic-collaboration-for-total-war-warhammer-iii/ Another interesting update, both for the eventual tabletop game and Total War Warhammer III. Re: A New Blog

Exciting. :) Interesting to spot a couple of changes to Seredain’s list, at least from the version I can remember. On lists alone I’d favour the HE. I don’t have huge experience against O&G, but I tend to think of them as a fairly good matchup for HE. If the war machines and magic have a good ga...

Re: Alith Anar List

I can see the advantages and clearly the tournament evidence shows it can work very well, but I’d be concerned by a couple of things. 1. If the flamespyre gets killed, the anointed also gets removed, and there’s a 1/6 chance each turn that he’ll be lost permanently (I know there’s a higher chance of...

Re: Fitzlock's High Elves - The Glittering Host of Avelorn

All those models look great. That alternate green and white on the helmet and elsewhere - the sea helm etc. too - works fantastically. And you’ve really done justice to the handmaiden, which personally I think is one of the best HE models ever (may be disputed!). =D>

Re: Alith Anar List

What happened Eli? I tried one with my cavalry prince list for a few games. Been a while since I read back over my old army blog, but I seem to remember getting it tied up on some skavenslaves and losing it to warp lightning cannon, plus losing it while trying to take on a beastmen unit solo. That'...

Re: Alith Anar List

I suppose I'm just showing my anti-phoenix bias. :P Never been a fan of them, perhaps because I expected too much of them when I used them and was disappointed.

One phoenix and some dragon princes might be a good compromise then.

Re: Alith Anar List

What would this unit look like specifically Eli? I was thinking probably 15 or so white lions or phoenix guard (for a real tar pit). Of course the main advantage of the phoenix is greater manoeuverability, but High makes up for that to some extent with hand of glory and walk between worlds. I do th...

Yeah, definitely a ward save on the archmage (dropping three shadow warriors gets a 4+). It was something I noticed just before posting the list. Not sure why I opted against one - must have been feeling really stingy when writing the list. Archers or spears? I agree there's not much differenc...

Secret santa was fun, although it usually took me until the following June to send mine. :? Might be a bit hard to do now with fewer people around - removes quite a lot of the mystery when there are only a handful of people involved!

Loving the multi-coloured magic fire, by the way. :)

Re: Alith Anar List

Admittedly some of the high elf special characters are pretty good. Did some people run Alarielle with a light coven? I think it's more a truism about special characters in general - certainly the wood elves aren't blessed with a great selection. Go on then, here's my list, with the proviso it was b...

Re: Warhammer: The Old World

I think I'm almost the opposite to Sturen. :P Not too bothered about new models (just bring back some of the old ones!). GW prices have always been high, but the new models they're bringing out are just ridiculous. Look at those new Lumineth - for the price of 5 infantry models, you could get 10 abo...

Great to see some classic models facing off against each other. :) Nice work on that model too. I imagine all that white could have been challenging, but it looks great.

Re: Alith Anar List

In the course of my Warhammer-related musings last year I became a fan of Alith Anar, drafted my own list, and even got the model on ebay. I'd never really looked at special characters before, and while most of them are overpriced and fairly useless, Alith seems pretty good value. Having said that, ...

Re: Making Shadow Warriors viable

My experience is that Wood Elf players who want to win take Waywatchers for one main reason and that is to deal with armour. Double-tap is nice but it's a side-benefit. The thing is, once you get up to about 20 you've more or less got the armour issue covered, many more are not an efficient investm...

Re: Making Shadow Warriors viable

There's a feeling amongst Wood Elf players that Scouts are clearly superior to Glade Guard, simply because they Skirmish and those don't even have BS 5! I found this comment surprising. I’ve not played a huge amount of WE, but I’ve never really seen the point of Deepwood Scouts. Sure, if they were ...

Well, I suppose I’d forgotten just how many gaps and contradictions there are in GW rules. :P I suppose the way I read the rules, characters aren’t really proper units, they’re just treated as units when they’re alone. Lore of Beasts rule question

It’s been a while, but out I come from lurking in the shadows - albeit perhaps very briefly. I don’t know if there’s any chance I’ll actually get back into Warhammer and try this, but I came up with an interesting idea for an army list the other day and it prompted the following rules question. All the models look great - really nice, bright colours. :) This one is a weird one. I bought 4 knights of Dol Amroth thinking they would serve well as Silver Helms and indeed they don't look bad. I thought they could be made into a unit of 5 as shown. However they are really tiny compared to the ot...
