Re: Noble with 3 wounds?

No, I think that is not allowed. Monstrous Cavalry cannot join a unit of regular infantry.

Re: BSB great weapon problem

Yes, carrying the Battle Standard doesn't prevent the BSB from using both hands for combat, whether that be using a HW+Shield or a two-handed weapon of some sort (great weapon, halbred, bow, etc).

Re: Working from limited pool, 2000/2500 lists

Well, I could always consider the HE Batallion box for Christmas (whether having others buy it for me or a self-present). That would give me 20 spears, 20 archers, a RBT and a Chariot. Archers could be broken into two units of 10 or a single unit of 14-20. Plus I could always use a few LSG in the ba...

Re: Working from limited pool, 2000/2500 lists

Nice setup, I had considered "MSU" as well (hence bothering to paint the third SM musician), however my idea of "MSU" was a unit of 10 lions, and two units of 14 SMs. Maybe thats more like "Normal Unit". :-s Splitting up the LSG was something I hadn't thought about. I h...

Working from limited pool, 2000/2500 lists

Over the last 2+ months I've been slowly building/painting up a HE army, the core of which is comprised of three Island of blood box sets. In addition to that some deals with my friend and FLGS owner netted me several additional items (such as the store's sample/display DPs/WLs GW sent it) and assor...

While I'm not matthyrian, very nice rundown threewestwinds, I especially like that you gave the reasoning behind the various selections instead of just saying "Take this, that, and these." I was considering posting a similar thread to this, and while my "unit bucket" is rather di...

Re: Why is it so hard to make a compettitive list

I think the Light armor on the archers is so they can be a bit more survivable if/when, well into the game, they need to make a support charge instead of shooting at nothing because everything is in melee.

You add your mages level to the dispell (or cast) total.

So Xd6 + Mage level + 1 (HE bonus) = Dispell total.

Glad you like it. So the helmet isn't a bit to wonky? Cool. The arms do look a bit short, but I think thats because the sleeves are big and poofy (I think they're archer arms), however, if he was to rest his arms at his sides, they're reach the appropriate part of his thighs (perhaps extend too far ...

Didn't get any painting done this weekend. But I did make some characters! Put together a mounted Prince, nothing special, built completely using normal Plastickit Prince parts. However I did some conversion work on one of the Island of Blood mages. http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/2724/archmage.j...

That is similar to what I was going to do, the only snag was I couldn't find an arm that has a long, flowing robe sleeve like the scepter arm has. No match in the bits bad it seems. :(

Remember that generous friend I mentioned? Well... today I walked away with quite a haul thanks to his unbelievable generosity. Did I mention he owns my FLGS? 2. I'm fairly sure my opponent was wrong about this one, but he claimed that during his magic phase, in addition to the main magic phase with his Grey Seer, he got a second magic phase using the bell itself. During this phase he could roll just as many dice as he had in the main magic phase, using ...

I do plan to base them, but I'm not sure how I will. I was planning to do the basic PVA + flocking basing, but I've seen a few interesting things here and elsewhere that has left me indecisive. I've never based a mini before, so it'll be an adventure no matter what.

Re: Another IoB newcomer. (Lots of Pics)

My favorite is the one on the right of my friend's pictures. The one with the full-helm and the crescent moon decorations. This is amusing because at first I thought he and the scale-face covering one were ugly compared to the ones whose faces you could see. Interestingly you only get one or him per...

Re: Drakeco's newbie log! Swordmasters and Seguard done

The scale skirts and breastplates of the swordmasters would definitely benefit from a wash of Devlan Mud or Bedab Black to "black-line" the crevases and engravings. However that will dull the metal slightly, take out some of the "Shine".

My friend sent me some pictures of the (incomplete) swordmasters he painted for our FLGS's IoB display copy, so I figured I'd share them. Very well done IMO, he's been painting for much longer than I have, and it certainly shows. They'll look even better if he ever gets around to finishing them. The...

My friend painted some swordmasters for our FLGS's IoB display copy in a blue metal similar to what you've got. He went with deep/dark purple trim and dull grey/charcoal robes. The dull robes really helps the armor "pop" in my opinion. Picture: http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/2489/sword...

Re: How do you run your foot Prince/Noble on foot?

Yeah, the Seaguard themed prince/noble I'm making is going to be using a "Great Spear". So far the setup was going to be one of the magic bows, a Great Weapon, then something to make him more survivable. But its hard to figure out what to use when I want to keep the AoC/GP combo on my BSB.

I definitely like the new IoB seaguard the most, though they do lose a point for lack of customization. The old Metal Seaguard look pretty nice too. The Plastic Spear Elves... well, my mother taught me if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: How do you run your foot Prince/Noble on foot?

My BSB set up is a pretty generic "survivable" Great Weapon + Armor of Caledor + Guardian Pheonix setup. Sadly I've yet to think up any "clever" prince/noble setups, but I do like some of the ones here, especially that "Sniper" Spirit Leach RGoH Prince. Been trying to t...

Another IoB newcomer. (Lots of Pics)

Well, like many others I decided I wanted to start up WHFB with the arrival of 8th edition. Originally I was thinking of Warriors of Chaos, Dwarves or High Elves as I like all their visual styles, but the announcement of the IoB pretty much sealed my choice as I've not got a lot to spend! Anyways, l...

Wow, very, very nice. =D> I had a similar idea for putting chariot lions in a WL unit and its nice to see a realized version of it (though I never thought of using the "handler", stellar idea). Echoing the others in that I may have to steal both the Noble conversion and the Eagle-Griffons,...
