2000 “realistic” and as strong as possible

#1 Post by Deft »

My first OW list

I want it to be “realistic” - meaning with a little bit of everything. I want it to be as strong as possible… but without a star dragon :)

The wiz is w the sisters. The bsb is managing the three infantry units and the griffon guy is with the silver helms. The reavers and eagle are chasing war machines and diverting

Please advise

Certainly seems like a very solid list! It'd be fun to hear how it performs for you. I'm a big fan of spearmen blocks. :)

I think you have too many spearmen and too many points in core to be as strong as possible. The spearmen are still only S3, T3 models. You also don't have a lot of shooting. I would replace one of the spearmen units with 10 archers, which saves you 130 pts. Which is a Lion Chariot, or equivalent.

I'm not sure the BSB on foot adds much to the list. Yes, the reaver bow is nice, but once you get into combat he's not that impressive, if you consider that you can also take 10 SM for the same price (yes, they're only S5 compared to S6, but they still get way more attacks).

Lastly, keep in mind that the griffon guy is your general. He's decently tough of course, but he'll also have a big target on his back. Don't be too reckless with him.

You have three anvil-like units (PG, 2x Spears) but no real hammer unit. Our Core is middling at best, so I wouldn't recommend spending much more than the bare minimum on it unless you are going with a theme. You need to work out what is going to get you points and what is going to create problems for your opponent. At the moment, you might be able to whittle some things down but I don't think that outside of your griffon Noble you'd be able to kill anything off.

I'd suggest picking a decent hammer unit and building your list around that. Dragon Princes, multiple Lion chariots, Monsters, characters in Silver Helm buses, something along those lines. The rest of the army builds around that.
Some old has-been.
