Nice. Sounds like good fun. looking forward to my kids growing to an age where I can dig up the heroquest that's hiding at my parents place somewhere :)

It was a good time. She (the 4 year old) had to tell me all about her dream where she (as Pink Lemonade) and Wonder Woman "went to a dungeon and fighted monsters, and we winned!"

I've got 5-6 days to get 15 of these done, and hopefully based. Should be easy enough. But I need a bit of advice. Should I do red/blue for the trim, or go with yellow? Other ideas are welcome as well of course.

I would go with yellow. More red/blue on those will be just more of the same and would lose the details a bit I think.

I ended up using a lighter blue. Much of the trim is in the shape of waves. Has to be blue. These are seriously cool minis. To bad the range is all of 10 models. 13 if you count the bolt thrower crew.

I got enough done tonight that even with bases, shields, and a banner I might finish before we leave on Monday.

Well. Just waiting for them to dry and I'll seal them. But the humidity is not cooperating. It's supposed to be above 75% until Monday. Guess I'll have to brush seal these. Shields are nearly done, banner is ready. Just basing to go. A bit faster than I expected yesterday that's for sure.

Obviously I don't have time to start anything else major. So, I've got the 4 bloodbowl minis that have been in progress for longer than I care to admit on the desk. Along with some Man O' War eagles. I had some leftover brown, so rather than waste it I put it to use.

At least with that number it's easy to get a complete set. ;)

The are indeed lovely models. And blue for waves is a pretty obvious choice. Though I live close to the beach. And here in the Netherlands our waves are a brownish grey mud color...

I forgot to mention, it's 10 minis numbered 1-14. And if anyone knows what happened they aren't saying. The HE, DE, and WE range that are like it all have 30 minis so maybe there are supposed to be 30. The story behind all that is one I'd love to find.

So I've done two insane things. i've decided to try to take some paints. And I decided that I needed to strip my Blood Bowl high elves. I still might change my mind on the first (it's hard to cut the number of colours down to one that I don't think is crazy. Maybe if I go back to just the stuff for the ships, and not also the stuff for blood bowl). It's to late to take the 2nd one back.

Never paint up a team, decide you aren't thrilled with the color scheme, but you'll stick to it, and then a couple? years later paint up a few more players for the team. Between the skill difference, and not liking the originals all that much from the start anyway it had to be done.

I like them. It's a very distinct color scheme. And it works great on these. Also, I've never seen this many sea elves together (at least not original ones...). So it's great to see the collection.

Are the shields freehand?

I think many painters have similar experiences. The best solution of course is to not improve in skill ;) When I see some of the earlier models I've painted I really feel like they deserve better. But, as long as I still have models left to paint I'll work on those instead of redo models already painted.

Old decals for the shields.

That's my policy. I made an exception for the robin hood guys, because they are favorites and I found a great deal on a new set. The blood bowl team I wouldn't have done it, except I needed that other thrower and a catcher. And I just couldn't make them match the old ones in a way that I was happy with.

I finished some dragons for Man O' War. But I packed up the SD card apparently. So pictures will be when I find the card, and if I remember I havn't posted them here yet.

TSA wanted a closer look at my toy boats. Hopefully the paints made it though the checked bag station without someone being weird about them.

It's actually an alternate sculpt of the chariot guy. One of the down sides of being deep into the collecting 1/3 of the hobby is that, other than command models, there aren't that many times where I'll convert something. It has to be an extra (or already broken), and just for time reasons there has to be a real gaming need. That usually means command models.

It'll be nice to have a finished Man O' War fleet shortly after we return to the US. It's one of those games that we've never played fully painted. But usually once one of us shows up with something done it motivates a least a couple of the others to start. Usually one of them manages to complete the project.

You can't really go wrong with a giant (tiny) flying lizard :)

They're great. You've managed to get a nice amount of detail and depth on them, given their size.

I'm learning that on things this small contrast is king, and that I need to go a little brighter with my palate than I would at 28mm. I also decided to make these guys match my sea elves (my LSG will probably end up a similar scheme when the time comes), because boats. I was fairly pleased with how well I managed the shields.

I've been playing on the computer to make custom sails that also have the sea monster. Haven't gotten what I want yet, but it's getting close. I haven't decided if I want that pattern for all the ships, or just the dragon ship.

Well, it's more that maybe I want eagles on the eagle ships, and hawks for the hawk ships. And maybe each ship ought to have unique sails.
