Maybe it is a good idea to open a painting blog in order to share pictures of my painting models...

Re: The Colour Wheel Painting Blog
I guess the first post deserves a nice High Elf lord model... and of course, mounted on a Red Dragon
I have enjoyed painting this big guy. That was some time ago. I hope you liked it.

Great dragon! Its a tough model to paint, it took me almost 5 years to finish mine! The position on the base seems a bit unnatural?

Was staring at me on the shelve for years and years Regarding to the position, the idea was that the dragon was landing on the rock, probably "splashing magma" would make the effect more realistic. Perhaps left foot may need more movement too...RE.Lee wrote:Great dragon! Its a tough model to paint, it took me almost 5 years to finish mine! The position on the base seems a bit unnatural?

Re: The Colour Wheel Painting Blog
I love eagle princes / nobles. They work great on the table (an eagle BSB is a good addition to a stardragon prince in my experience ). And that execution is great. The pose is very dynamic. The details on the eagle are lovely. And indeed, the metal is great.

Re: The Colour Wheel Painting Blog
I can't beleive its been five months since my last post... Anyway, I'd like to show you my last "remake". I painted this miniature more than 20 years ago and I decided to update it a little bit. Sorry no pics before / after. I have to say I always loved when high elf rode unicorns and pegasus!!

This made me decide to change my next project. Not to my unicorn mage, that's still bare metal. But to something from the same time period.

Re: The Colour Wheel Painting Blog
That is an old model! Love it, it looks great, very old-school. And I like the paint job on the unicorn as well. I'm not great at painting horses. And the one time I tried white on one turned out to be awful. Great job on this one. Any tips?

Thanks Rod! I am not that good at giving tips but in case it could help this is the process I followed:Prince of Spires wrote:That is an old model! Love it, it looks great, very old-school. White prime + old Bleached Bone basecoat (which I think it is slighgly darker than Ushabiti Bone, or at least the old one I own!)
Then generously apply Gryphonne Sepia and start layering. First with Bleached Bone, then Ushabiti Bone and finally highlights of a mix of Ushabiti Bone + Vallejo Model Color Ivory (70918). I guess the more layers you can apply the better. Just making sure there is a good transition between colors (Which I think I didn't get here )

4 elves, 4 horses, 2 wheels. I primed it and started on the elves last night.hoten wrote:I am so curious! please give some clues!
On the layers on the unicorn, I agree you didn't quite get there. But it's pretty good. White is a major pain.
Re: The Colour Wheel Painting Blog
That is definitely an attack chariot, I almost bought one the other day. I both hate and love that modelShannar, Sealord wrote:4 elves, 4 horses, 2 wheels. I primed it and started on the elves last night.
As for the painting, perhaps you might want to thin your paints a little bit, but I really like how you paint you models, that thick lining and the choice of the colors gives a nice oldhammer feeling to you miniatures !
I also have some older models to paint as well, I might use your minis as reference...

It's the only model I own where I don't have all the bits. The guy with the bird is missing his cape. I've got a plastic one that close, but it would be fun to have "everything".SpellArcher wrote:So many bits!ceeprime wrote: I both hate and love that model

Attack chariot! I always wanted one of those... From the same period I should repaint Thaidons, the Dragon LordShannar, Sealord wrote:4 elves, 4 horses, 2 wheels.hoten wrote:I am so curious! please give some clues!

Re: The Colour Wheel Painting Blog
My pegasus is all p. ainted up, but my dragon is also sitting in a box. Maybe after I finish the chariot. It really is time to get these painted up, and seeing someone else working on them gives motivation for some strange reason.

It is always about motivation. I am glad it worked for you. I'll post the Pegasus as soon as I finished it

Off to a good start.
I've been working on that chariot too, so far I've finished one crewman (and a bunch of stuff for mordheim)
