Re: March-April 2016 Painting Challange
I'll see what I can do for you tonight. I've got one lying around somewhere. But it's a pretty bad one in low-light conditions with a phone. I should have some time left over tonight with still some daylight left. Though it's rainy here today, so not the best of conditions.SpellArcher wrote:No chance of a WIP picture Rod?Prince of Spires wrote:I've finished painting the dragon.

Looking forward to it Rod.
Fiend
I wasn't happy with this in WIP but it kind of came together. Had to be monochrome to match my general Slaanesh scheme. I do find myself missing colours though!

Very nice Rod, the yellow eye works a treat!
I also love the wings, they're slightly 'Zombie Dragon'.

It's looking good. Once that base is finished it'll look really good. I'm not sure why, but I think a finished base adds a lot. I also like the yellow eye. Maybe add a black spot to it?
You've given me a little motivation to start on a dragon. We'll see if it lasts, they are just so darn big.

I finished the Pegasus and rider, except the base. I'll take a picture as is and base it later. Also made good progress on some shadow warriors and a cheerleader today.

Re: March-April 2016 Painting Challange
Thanks for the compliments Finishing the base indeed adds a lot to a model I think. Even when it's simple it makes the model look complete. Which is one of the reasons I always leave bases to the end. First there is the rider to paint. Aicanor suggested greens and whites for the rider, which sounds like a good idea to me.
A black spot in the eye is probably a good idea. If only my hand is steady enough to keep it as a spot... I tend to mess up eyes
@Shannar: a cheerleader?

Re: March-April 2016 Painting Challange
Okay, nearing the end of the month and I really didn't get much painting done, figure-wise. However, I painted the living room, dining room, kitchen, mud room, 3 bedrooms, and 1.5 baths of a 1300 sq foot house. Just have the stairwell, hallway, and one bathroom (and a ceiling in a bathroom) left to paint. Also ripped out carpet in the living and dining rooms and replaced the flooring and am in the process of ripping out shelving in the garage to make a workspace for painting/gaming.
Does that count towards my painting challenge?

Pics or it didn't happen :p
I agree that it counts. It's interesting that it's also the kind of painting your significant other doesn't have a problem with if you spend half the night doing it...

I asked the same question. Apparently, it's an entry room where you take off wet/muddy clothes.Prince of Spires wrote: What's a mud room?
I only have a few pictures ... most of the ones I took are the "before" or "in progress" .... but you get to see the 30 year old carpet that we haven't replaced yet!
1st bedroom/nursery
2nd bedroom/office (before/after)
Living room (from the dining room) in progress pictures of the flooring ...

Looking great apart from the carpet that is... Nice house, lots of space And it definitely counts toward the painting challenge.

Until we get to working on the garden, the big patch of dirt can easily be used for that- just add a hose!SpellArcher wrote:I was hoping it was for mud wrestling.

A couple of pics of the pegasus. I'm not sure on the sheild, it's one that was from something else years ago, but worked here. I might change it out later. I need to do the base too. The plan is to do a bunch of these larger bases all at once. Next will be to work on some mordheim shadow warriors, and the side project will be to get back to the handmaiden. After that maybe a bret knight for Mordheim and some HE archers. We'll see.

Re: March-April 2016 Painting Challange
Myth, absolutely great work buddy, very impressive models!
Dragon is coming along nicely Spires, especially like the wings, the effect works really well
Those Fiends are coming along nicely SpellArcher, look forward to seeing the finished models.
Duranthalis, that must have kept you busy! Good work, a bit of a chore but worth the effort!
I got back from honeymoon mid April and have managed to find quite a bit of time for painting since (by my standards at least), finished a company of Fallschirmjaeger for Flames of War I've been working on for over a year now (just a few infantry bases and a PAK40 to get me up to 1750 points) and have nearly finished a Panzer company as well.
Once that's finished I'm going to do the unthinkable and dig out the High Elves again and get painting them again after what's been over a year off now! Have played a few games of 8th lately and I've signed up to a weekend game in Dec this year so figured its about time I started work on some of the mass of unpainted models i've got!

haha fair enough. I've had almost no chance to paint this month myself. It's a shame your colour scheme didn't allow for some brighter colours on those Fiends. They are well done, but just don't pop the way they could.

Re: March-April-May 2016 Painting Challange
I know what you mean Shannar.
They stand out because of the white but I'm yearning for a little more variation in my painting. I'm limited with the Slaanesh scheme because of my existing units. Once I've had a deeper think about some list changes I'll hopefully settle on something a bit more challenging to paint.
