Runes/Symbols of the Regions of Ulthuan

#1 Post by Kyptastic »

Has anyone ever come across or found a list of runes/symbols for various regions of ulthuan? or all the gods for that matter?

I have been making this temple with pillars representing all the regions and I was trying to find symbols/runes to carve into them.

GW is pretty weak on things like this, the best you get are the runes in the book, the 6th edition ones look better than the 7th.

And on the map in the back of 6th ed. army book there are runes - one for every region. Just found out...

My sixth edition book must be missing that page =(
My older one is good, I wonder if I can find a better copy of the dodgy one...

I couldn't find any runes on the Ulthuan map when I looked through my 6th ed. book, could you please share your picture of it if you got it on the computer?

My first post btw :D

Yeah, for everyone's knowledge; the 6th ed Army Book had two versions, the eatlier with the sepia tone map and runes, and the later version had a coloured version of the 5th ed map.
I have both but my cool map copy got badly water damaged.

Yes please on a good scan of the map Lady Aicanor.

It seems the gentlemen took care of the pics. =D>
And the mystery of this thread is also solved. You're not called Loremaster for nothing, Asurion.

Hmm, so the rune for Eataine is ceyl. It will go on my army banners. :)

Well, I already had it scanned and Gizmos weren't up yet so I figured I'd upload it just in case his didn't work (but they did). If I'd noticed this post I could have put it up here a year ago

I either scan or photograph all my army books so I can look at them while I'm in switzerland without having to lug all that around.

Im just happy to help, i dont think I have ever read a topic, gone and found something, taken a picture of it and then uploaded it so swiftly. I just had to know if I had the "right" book. I do think shannar did a better job though. I would never have considered scanning in the whole of my army book.

I even did the back cover if anyone needs that for anything haha.

The downside is, that to get really good scans you have to cut the binding. But I usually end up moving my books to a binder anyway, and then later I look for a cheap copy to leave nice to go with the collection part of army.

CUT THE BINDING!!!! How could you!! [-X

Im gonna have to go lie down now. As usefull as it must be, even with a second nice copy, I dont think I could ever do that.

Well, so far I've only done it with paperbacks. I'd found that I almost always ended up doing it eventually as the binding wore out in the special rules or army list sections. So I figured if just started doing it right away I'd get a better scan and the binder is more convenient in a lot of ways (for example I can pull just the pages I need so they are quicker to find during games).

But yes, damaging a book is never easy :P

I know what you mean, the special/rare section of the army list part of my book has come out. That was a sad day. And then I bought a new one. But I find I use the old one more than the new one. The new one is just *there*. And im gonna have to buy another in like 2 months anyway by the sounds of it. I think the having a pdf version is great, but that would require scanning and possibly cutting the book, or buying the electronic version and thats a whole new off topic subject.

Does anyone have a good clear picture of the new rune of Asuryan? There's a faint one on the bottom right corner of page 54 in the current army book, but I was hoping for a full version?

If you have some funds, get the Uniforms and Heraldry book. It is quite nice and has the whole Pantheonic Mandala in (or you can find it in different order of importance in Dark Elf book). The Heraldry book has a lot of new "ordinary" runes and heraldry stuff and colour scheme ideas in addition.

Edit: Dark Elf symbols are different from HE ones.

The Asrai ones are slightly different too, as one would expect.
