So, looking at now putting together high elves... As though I need another army or project. Anyway; I'm a fluff player and have a dedicated theme and background in mind for the army. That doesn't mean however that I don't want it to be competitive. With a little of 8th edition in mind this is where I'm at.
Archmage
-lvl 3, Seer Staff, Scroll
Dragon Mage
-lvl 1, Silver Wand, Sun Dragon
Noble
-General, Dragon Armor, Sword of Battle, Dragonscale Shield, Talisman of Loec
10 Archers
10 Archers
20 Sea Guard
-FC, Shields, war banner
20 Sea Guard
-FC, Shields
6 Silver Helms
-Muso, Standard
12 Sword Masters
-FC, Sword of Striking, Lion Standard
2 Repeater Bolt Throwers
2243
Thoughts for improvement?

Very vulnerable, give him some decent protection.jpf1982 wrote:Noble

No need for these.jpf1982 wrote:10 Archers

You're giving up +2S for the Sword of Striking. Why?jpf1982 wrote:12 Sword Masters

I value knowledge, logic, and deceit. I love to pursue wisdom but also to manipulate and deceive. At my best, I am brilliant and progressive. At my worst, I am treacherous and cold. My symbol is a water droplet. My enemies are green and red.

Agree with orka. Additionally,
There is no reason to field this unit. Take 5 Dragon Princes instead.jpf1982 wrote:6 Silver Helms

Not that I'm knocking your suggestions in any way; I have no experience so have no basis for such a thing. Was wondering why specificialy you two made the recommendations you did.
Why drop the archers? Beacuse the Sea Guard? or because they suck? What kind of armor do you think a Noble should have? a 3+/6+ really that bad on a hero level? or bad just because he's the general?

Re: 2250; 1st List; very unsure of myself.
HE core is strictly worse than everything else in the book, so there is no reason to take more core than the minimum required.
The Noble would be stronger with Armour of Caledor and a mundane great weapon. The Sword of Battle is always a terrible choice - the Sword of Might is better against almost everything, and a great weapon is better than either.
Is this list 8th edition or 7th edition?

Re: 2250; 1st List; very unsure of myself.
Really made more with 8th in mind. That's why the Sea Guard. In 8th those should be pretty awesome. 20 of em in 4 ranks means I get to shoot 16 of them and then fight in 4 ranks with re-rolls to hit as long as I have the highest initiative.
Also I'm trying to work out a list for a GT in my area. It's a fluff GT and the only requirement is that you field 40% of your army as core troops. I think the rule is actually a little different for the HE; but I figured I'd give the Core a shot since 8th edition should make them a little better.
