That would be my department :D

Great plains as in N.A. Great plains?

If yes then I would say no part, especially since Tiranoc sank under the sea.

That is the anwser based on climate+landscape.

If you are thinking just about landscape and it would by Ellyrion.

Could you be more precise in your question please, it will help me give you a better answer.

Cheers

Yeah I was thinking about the NA Great Plains, not so much as with a Badlands but just a great open field as far as you can see with only the blue sky and green hills underfoot. Much like the Plains indian would reside from.

Or if you've played World of Warcraft, then Mulgore.

By your description that would be the spitting immage of Ellyrion. Rolling plains of verdant green grass as far as the eye can see crisscrossed with rivers locked in a perpetual summer. Also norther regions of Saphery and the plains of Avelorn between the sea and the forest could fall into that cathegory just that Ellyrion is the larges area of that kind and widely know for it.

I agree with what Gil said - Ellyrion being very 'Great Plainy'.

Caledor, I personally, imagine to be sort of like Arizona - dusty and rocky, with mountain ranges etc, but areas of hospitable lands.

Arizona would not be the best comparison.

Caledor is an inner kingdom so it has magical weather.

Mountains+Volcanoes+Magical weather = a blend between Ireland and Iceland.

Ireland's weather is the opposite of magical!

I'd say more of a Warm Switzerland, maybe even a touch of Hawai'i in the lowlands. Lush, verdant, but mountains and volcanoes everywhere.

I kinda like the idea of dormant volcanoes, like the dragons great power lying asleep.

Personally I go for Chinas yellow mountains

I always imagined Caledor with a bit more snow in the high mountains... but those images of Tahl's sure are pretty... Sigh. I want to go tour Ulthuan... :)

You'd be shot full of arrows as soon as you tried to leave Lothern. I wouldn't advise it, were such a thing possible.

Remember, that Caledor nobles have their fortresses atop these mountains making them Caledor all but inpenetrable
