direct damage issues

Hi there,just a quick question: can a wizard cast a spell classified as a Direct damage,from the second rank of a unit?

The answer is yes because there's nothing in the rules forbidding this.

If there was a prohibition it would likely be on pg 31 but there's nothing there.
