balancing siege games

#1 Post by choclatecruncher16 »

hi folks.
soon me and some mates are playing a scenario based around a siege. we intend to have the attacking force at 8ooo points and the defenders at 4000. we also wanted the attackers (woc) to surround the defenders (high elves and empire). i was wondering are there any balance issues that need to be balanced in a game like this.
The defenders get 2 walls surrounding a castle all in the centre. we are having a test play at half points next week but we only get 1 test before everyone gathers to do this game. how long would it take for the attackers to break to the centre. we have decided that walls are t8 and have 4 wounds and can only be hurt by dragon ogres, hero's, magic and hellcannons, shame the 3 chaos players have all of those in plentiful supply.
last other important bit of infomation i can think of is the walls and castle will roughly take up 3 foot by 2 foot.

would playing to a turn limit be best or seeing how long the defenders can hold out until they are all killed work best.
if any of this makes sense and you have any ideas i thank you in advance. if not then don't worry about it

Turn limit, since you want them to take the fortification by assault, and not starve them out.

If you can tarpit the attackers on the wall, it will prevent them from reinforcing their frontline units and using superior numbers.

If it is a one off scenario, then a turn limit. if it is a campaign, then depends on the campaign situation.
