I always enjoyed playing that game, though I never reached the end.

Tried installing it recently, and video is out of kilter.

Ah Musashi-san. Easy fix. Put the game on CPU and not 3D graphics in the options menu. I had the same problem! :) Enjoy!
As for the game...ah. What a classic. Everything Mark of Chaos should have been for the new generation. I've finished it about fifty times. Once with Infantry. Cavalry. Ice mage. Fire mage. Both mages. Once with only about ten casualties. Once where I got 40000gp by the end of the game...ah. The memories! :)

We all mainly run Dark Omen on XP/Vista in CPU Mode as 3d Mode flickers,

(Unless you have CRT see other Guide)

http://forum.dark-omen.org/help-section/dark-omen-in-full-3d-mode-high-res-xp-and-no-flicker-t248.0.html

The main point is that to change to CPU mode and not Coloured Cursors on the First time u run the game.

So ...

1) Uninstall Dark Omen and Clean the Registry
2) Delete C:\Program Files\Dark Omen folder
3) Reboot
4) Install Dark Omen
5) For Vista Download d3drm.dll and Copy this file to "DarkOmen-Directory\PRG_ENG".
http://en.dark-omen.org/dark-omen-and-windows-vista.html
6) Download The Crash Intro Fix
http://en.dark-omen.org/downloads/view-details/5.-miscellaneous/intro-crash-fix.html
7) For Vista start Dark Omen as Administrator (right click on engrel.exe -> Run as Administrator)
and go Straight into Options but for XP just start the game normally and go Straight to Options
8 )In Options set Graphics to CPU and not 3d Mode (Flickers screen) and
9) In Options set NO to Coloured Cursors

Now try and play the Campaign and Test Mission1 Map.

Any further problems you could try a no CD Patch (google it) and try the Dark Omen TroubleSHooter
found in DarkOmen-Directory in Program Files. TShoot(Vista Right Click and run as Administrator) and select No Patch and run it.

To make the game look slighty better in CPU mode we all use the
Textrue Switcher.

Warhammer: Dark Omen Texture Switcher 16KB Right Click to Save as a Winzip file. Then extract to C:\Program files\Dark Omen and run dots.exe it will as k u to browse to your Dark Omen folder and then run it. This actually swaps textures around so in CPU, as u scroll along the map it doesn't look so rough/sketchy.

http://forum.dark-omen.org/maps/texture-switcher-t114.0.html

Also download the Coloured Cursors and paste them in so that when we use NOT coloured cursors (Black and White) they will actually be coloured now.

Wow, this is incredible, i just got back home for easter and dug this game out!

I used to know what units came when and left when, where enemies set up, EVERYTHING, but i couldnt remember this time around, i took casualties like nothing.

This is such a worthy thing to do. As an aside, i actually didnt mind mark of chaos (or battle march as i have) too much, but it had no heart compared to this.

Look forward to sorting it all out. Cheers

Say ho! Welcome to Ulthuan.net. I've been meaning to get back into this stuff, but I just couldn't seem to be arsed. Huh.

Not a chance :( I`,m away from home at the moment so I`ll be able to try anything next month.

Editor I have an access to is something called - or at least with icon - "smurf"
It allows not only to edit stats but graph of the units and scenarios - at least in some extend ie. U are able to change units of enemy but not their arriving on the battlelefield - which btw causes a lot of problems with replacing scenario units being "ressurected" or summoned like some zombies or sceletons - usually changing them means problems for game.

yeah,

Smurf and Mikademus made DOC111 Mod collection of tools nearly 10 years ago and I have been most fortunate to track them both down and are Modding Dark Omen again. Mikademus is actually building his own game engine(RTT) and Smurf (aka Andy Igoe or Becky! as I later found out to my great Suprise) owned and built the worlds largest Online Touring Car Sim. The Editors you have are Wh2Edit, a Dos based program for editing Troops and Stats that enables new Campaigns to be made by switching armies and Units and then MDose a Sprite Editor, both have now been updated in new Windows friendly Editors.

So All Welcome anytime and if u have some spare time pop in and check us out ->
