Greetings All,

So a little about me, I am a Chaos Dwarf (5th Edition HeroHammer going strong) and Infernal Dwarf Player (T9A) while I was painting some weeks ago my Missus expressed an interest in starting a Ninth Age army, so we got to trawling Evil Bay. We were looking for an army with a Dragon, great I thought as previously she had been wanting an Arthurian Themed army and I hate painting Horses or Cavalry of any description. And then we stumbled across this deal for a High Elf Force that was currently selling for £27.00, after a little bid war we won the auction for a bargain £35.00!.

So she has
    Dragon Lord
    Griffon Lord
    Mage
    2x 5 Reavers
    5 Silver Helms
    20 Archers
    20 Spearmen
    20 Swordmasters

Which all in all for a Mage and a Monster Lord, over Core allowance for a 4500 Point force and a Medium Size Special Unit is not at all bad, however here is the Crux, I am becoming a little tired with Infernal Dwarves in T9A so I am looking at starting up a force of my own, Sylvan Elves.

This leads me onto how I have been spending this weekend gone, re pinning the wings and attempting to break down the Dragon into Components so that I can paint the Dragon and Magnetise the Rider for a Dual Purpose Dragonlord Model.

Here is the current Status of the Emerald Drake, as a aside anyone know any decent Dragon Names or Generators?

The Wings IRL have a Maroon Pearlessance to them that does not show up well in the Photo's.

I have also spent the morning Painting a Test Figure (Swordmaster) for the Infantry to the Bosses (Read Missus) liking only 19 more to go of this standard

At the moment I am also looking for Elven Scenery so I can build some decent unit fillers to flesh out the existing units so any purchases going forwards are going to be for new units, but only once what we currently have is painted as without that it is a very slippery slope.

So any idea's for decent elven Scenery? Looking for 40x40mm, 40x80mm and 40x100mm ideas if you guys and girls know of any?

Hopefully that is enough of a welcome

Cheers
Miasma

Not bad at all!

I also play Wood Elves (overdue for some attention) and have always had a soft spot for Chaos Dwarfs, so I salute you!

A friend once named his Smug, though that probably doesn't count! I envy you the dragonwork, I always fancied doing one but GW discontinued the one I really liked.

I really like the depth and richness of the colour scheme.

My favourite was a guy on The Warhammer Forum who referred to his as the 'Commander-in-Chief'.

That army is a great find. Definitely a bargain. So congratulations with finding it.

And it's always nice to find a boss who also enjoys warhammer (in whatever form). Mine just tolerates the hobby and if asked gives her opinion on paint jobs etc. She does keep asking if I really need more figures (which is not a bad thing by the way. It keeps spending habits in check).

I like the paint scheme on the emerald dragon. The gold and green work great together. It's going to be a lovely centrepiece.

Thank you both. I had a spare few hours yesterday so managed to put the leather onto the model, have also painted the saddle not sure why but still. For some strange reason I put a small hole under the tongue for the breath weapon attack...

He's really coming along nicely.

:)

Virtually every Chaos Dwarf player seems to be handy with a paintbrush.

I agree, the dragon is starting to look epic.

I do feel the need to point out that the rider is missing a few bits...

;)

Cheers Guys. Did not like the rider do am looking to get a few bits, perhaps even another Dragon kit if I can swing it from the Missus!

Dragon was in a sad state when he arrived, had to rein both his wings, I tried to remove the glue but it was impossible. Much more of a salvage job then I had expected.

I need to start to crank out infantry so need to choose between Spears or Bows...

I'd go for what you'll enjoy painting more.

Just need to get some more colours for the infantry mine seem to have solidified, they must be at least 20 years old by now though
