Frost Dragon done! Wasn't easy as I've suffered from sciatica (ouch), but there you go :)

It does make it look a bit cartoonish, but thats ok, I guess :)

Now that the frost dragon is done it seems fitting to incorporate it into the army list. It now looks something like this:

Loremaster (Book of Hoeth, Shield of the Merwyrm, Blade of Might, heavy armour)
BSB (Star Lance, Dragon Helm, Pot of Fools, barded steed, shield, two-handed weapon)

10 Silver Helms, full command
2x15 Archers, banner, musician

10 Dragon Princes, full command, BoEF
5 Dragon Princes
21 White Lions, full command, BotWD

Frost Dragon
2 RBTs
2 Eagles

The shadow warriors are done. I'm still not sure how to use them. Its a pity they gave the shadow walker an additional attack and not extra BS - he'd be a good place to put the reaver bow. Anyway:

As a bonus, an assault on a lizardmen temple!

Nice touch of old school with Imrik's dragon. Looking great as per usual.

You're really smashing out the painting lately! How many hours a day are you getting in on average?

Yup, things accelerated recently :) I try to paint 2-3 hours a day, my fiancee takes pole dancing lessons 4 days a week so I get a lot of time for warhammer :) I've also discovered the wet palette - it really speeds up painting!

I have 3 units that need finishing right now: silver helms (6 done, 4 to go), white lions (12 done, 9 to go) and dragon princes (2 done, 10 to go...). I think I'll go with the White Lions first, although doing some cavalry is tempting as well...

Anyway, thanks for all the comments guys, I think there's been a lot of good going on in the painting and modeling forum recently!

I think you made a good choice with those red claws on Imrik's dragon - staying true to his red-period roots ;) I always loved the old orc shaman wyvern with it's green scales and red claws and scorpion tale, i'm keen to get one actually but they are hen's teeth rare :D

You've made me want to reassemble my old Imrik dragon now, it's been on the back-burner for a while, i stripped it in good faith but never quite got it back together again :s

Ah yes - the wyvern is a very cool model :) I'm looking forward to seeing your take on Imrik - the dragon mage over at your blog looks great (its the old dark elf dragon he's riding isn't it?).

Meanwhile, I've finally moved to my own flat - I'm assembling my little painting corner as I write, so hopefully I'll be able to get back to work soon :)

My level 2 Avin-al-Sienna. He doesn't see much action these days, but its still one of my favourite miniatures:

Another character - he occasionally plays the role of my shadow warrior champion although its likely he'll lose the job once I finish Aenur (from Mordheim). If I ever feel like taking the Shadow Armour - this is the guy that will be wearing it.

Oooo pretty display cabinet. At least you put the Skaven on the bottom where they should be, in fact let's be honest they shouldn't be in the same cabinet at those High Elves.

I've finished half of my July pledge today (yesterday was ER day so no painting for me). This brings up my White Lion unit up to 21. Still not enough for my liking - 28 would be more appropriate - but its still enough to be my Loremasters bodyguard. I find they are the best unit to babysit him - getting them that 5+ regeneration is brutal, especially since it heals the big guy, too.

Anyway:

My pledge continues. I decided to start working on 6 dragon princes to bring my unit up to 8. I think our heavy cavalry options got a real boost this edition. Dragon Princes getting a ward save, Silver Helms becoming core and both getting extra movement. They work very well with the Frost Phoenix, too: -1S synergizes well with hard armour.

I've painted up a couple of test models quite some time ago - I went for a classic colour scheme of red and green. I will mix old and newer models in the unit as well (even going to incorporate some old character models in the unit, for a truly elite feel - these are not rank and file!). So, for now, 2 models done, and 6 more on the way!

I got a new table that is just big enough to play a warhammer game (though no terrain yet). I run a test game against my Skaven at 1600 points.

Image

Again my Loremaster was the MVP - death sniping both the doomwheel and the HPA before going crazy with augments later in the game (the Grey Seer was dead by that time). The most epic moment involved spearmen, who, having been reduced to 7 elves by a rocket earlier in the game, chased of 40 skaven slaves. The ratmen were foolish enough to charge out of the leadership bubble of the general and were only steadfast on Ld 5. A couple of stabs later the slaves had to take advantage of their cornered rats rule, killing everyone but the champion. The veteran was left bloodied but victorious standing over a huge pile of dead.

True, he is by far my favourite character in the list and a nice opportunity to include the old Eltharion the Swordmaster miniature in my force :) His trickle magic phases are something I really enjoy because, as much as I like to cast an apocalyptic spell from time to time, the unreliability of "regular" magic (random spell generation in particular) really grinds my gears.

On the painting front I'm almost done with the DP steeds, should be posting pictures soon :)

Old school is the aim :) There's a mix of 5th and 6th edition models in the unit so far, but I plan on adding even more variety: One of my 5th ed Imriks (the other will eventually be added on to of the Frost Dragon) and "high elf hero body 1" :

Image

The other 2 will be in the Silver Helm bus (up next).

I love how you've mixed in the OLD metal DP's. I have one on his original horse that until my new BSB is done, is the army BSB

Thanks for the comment :) The old horses were kind of smallish, so I decided to remount mine. I'm still thinking of a way of using the metal horse heads...

I've started my August pledge today. 15 archers with full command already undercoated! Using the 5th edition armoured models.
