We haven't been conned. Hirst's work has always been shit, subbed out and doesnt qualify as art.
How is it not art as opposed to "IMHO"?
These are the Emperor's new clothes. No ground breaking fabrication techniques and no new ideas as presented by the artist's production company in their "concepts". Further, it doesnt contribute to a language of symbol or to a continuity of visual and philosophical dialogue, as is found in more traditional "journeyman" art - or even, for that matter, in popular culture. He, his sycophantic,"interesting" critics are taking the piss and we're given "The Only Way is Essex", in return.
Regarding Mr Spalding.
This chap has written a book, which I haven't read, about what enriches us.. and wot dnt.
