It's the 6th December again. Every flagpole has a flag, Unknown Soldier (1955 version) is coming from tv and in the evening there will be a ball in the presidential palace.
All my grandparents served in both Winter War and Continuation War. Grandfathers as soldiers and grandmothers in the Lotta Svärd organisation. Those wars were fought to keep our independence.
How ever the independence day was in 1917 from the Russian Empire. This is something which is often forgotten. All things on tv and newspapers are always about second world war. Weird.
Anyways, I have deep respect for all world war two veterans. The resolve those people had was something I could never achieve, I think. Hell, I find it impossible to clean up my room weekly...
So today's a day of celebration. Even Google seems to give us a heads up. Check out google.fi
