You only sing when you're winning. and it wont be for long.
Drogba and Tevez are still playing like a pair of old women but I bought Bale so I ought to get some points this weekend.

It may well be Wild-Card time in the Team Mediocre dressing room. The management and fans are not used to mid-table mediocrity. Winter clean-out ahead I think!
I had just dropped Bale for Arteta this weekend. Fail.

Re: Fantasy Premier League 2010/11
Well...
Tomorrow is the last day of the season. And there's still a lot to play for in the real league. Two of Blackburn, Birmingham, Wolves, Wigan and Blackpool will go down, they're all within a point of eachother! Hoping Wolves and Wigan stay up, and Blackburn go down. Birmingham or Blackpool with them.
At the top it's United as champions already, Chelsea second. If City win tomorrow, they get 3rd and the final automatic CL place ahead of the Gunners in 4th, which is interesting. Spurs stay 5th if they win and get into the Europa League, despite Liverpool's vast improvement in the 2nd half of the season. Losing 2-0 to Spurs last week shows they still have a way to go.
Anyhoo, onto important things. Our league!
1 Teshub_Rules Sten Madsen 1877
2 Anar's Ions Anar Ion 1862
3 Team WIN! Stuart Blucke 1825
4 Something FC Peter Eichberger 1765
5 Sparkz11 Kieran Veale 1742
6 Team Mediocre Paraic Scanlon 1725
7 FC Penguins Henke Bellander 1706
8 The Losers Tyrion Reaper 1620
9 Hamsters Peter van den Burg 1616
10 Petes Running Punts peter johnstone 1570
11 Olympique Mayonnaise Sami Mahmoud 1549
12 Phantom Mario Z 1480
Sten and Anarion are battling for 1st, but looks good for Sten unless his team doesn't show up at all. Stuart is pretty safe in 3rd, while Pete in 4th is under threat from Kieran (Who's this?). I'm a few points further down, so probably out of contention for the top 4 barring a miracle. But here's hoping!
Not sure how seriously this was taken this year, usually a bit more banter. I drifted away before Christmas and it was early April before I came bacn and patched things up. Been going well since then though!

Re: Fantasy Premier League 2010/11
My Dad's a Wolves fan, and having been at University in Birmingham (near Wolverhampton) for the last three years, I've grown into one as well. I'm wanting Wolves to stay up then, and I like Holloway, so Blackppol or Birmingham. Blackburn and Wigan can sink for all I care. Personally though, my moneys on Blackpool and Wigan - I don't think they can win their games. Birmingham will lose as well, and the Wolves/Blackburn game could go either way...Paraicj wrote:Tomorrow is the last day of the season. And there's still a lot to play for in the real league. That's what I like to see. I've been fairly serious this year - my friends at university ran a league as well. Actually, I did pretty badly in it, so I'm pleased to have done well in one of them at least...3 Team WIN! Stuart Blucke 1825

Re: Fantasy Premier League 2010/11
All I wanted to do this season was beat Paraic. Since I've done that I'd say this was a solid season for Something FC. Maybe next year we'll be able to make a run at the title, but as long as I beat Paraic it's a win in my book.

Re: Fantasy Premier League 2010/11
All I want is for Blackpool to stay up, the way they've played this season has been fantastic to watch... Not to mention Ian Holloways post match interviews have been hilarious! I think they have a chance as well...
Anyone fancy staking their 10 predictions for tomorrow? Finally conclude your post with which 2 teams will get relegated... we could say 1 point per correct result (W/D/L), 1 point per correct score for each team within fixtures where the result was correct and 1 point for each correct relegated team? Submissions by k.o will be accepted... I only wish I had thought of something like this sooner it could be fun
My predictions
2 Aston Villa v 1 Liverpool
0 Bolton v 2 Man City
0 Everton v 1 Chelsea
1 Fulham v 1 Arsenal
1 Man Utd v 1 Blackpool
0 Newcastle v 0 West Brom
2 Stoke v 0 Wigan
3 Tottenham v 0 Birmingham
2 West Ham v 2 Sunderland
2 Wolverhampton v 1 Blackburn
Birmingham and Wigan to both join West Ham

Re: Fantasy Premier League 2010/11
Woohoo I won!
I have been fairly serious and especially adept at picking the wrong captain week after week. Anarion hasn't done much the last few months, but still gave me a run for it, as he had some solid players on his team.
Thanks for the fun and I'm up for a new round coming August.

Yeah Sten you are lucky that I didn't pay attention for the past 4 months of the season. Next year....

Even when paying attention it was up and down, absolutely no guarantee that you would fare better changing your captain and trading a player, so don't keep your hopes to high at beating me....

Ok ladies and gentlemen, it's 2011/2012 time.
Entry is open to anyone who is actually a member of the site. If I don't know who you are, explain yourself here before you join or I'll probably arbitrarily cut you from the league. I'm kind of a dick like that. Entries are welcome during the season, but I'll probably close the league at Christmas. That way we all know where we stand for the rest of the year.
Smack talk is tolerated, encouraged even, since at the end of the day we all know I will reign supreme and you poor sods will barely be able to see my arse by the end of the season since I'll be so far above you all. Pete, there's probably no point in you even joining, save yourself the embarrassment...
Team mediocre HO!
Code is: 784114-196517
Name is: All glory to off-topic!
Good luck!
P.s. I'll see if I can get a Mod to change the title to 2011/2012. Starting a new thread seemed a bit silly...

Re: Fantasy Premier League 2010/11
Ready and raring to go - I can only improve on last year. Though my cunning plan is already scuppered with Hernandez getting a bump on the noggin.
As a connected aside, I'm betting Suarez to be top goal scorer in the league this year, and Man City to win the title.

Current dilemma...
To Suarez or not to Suarez? Everyone seems to think he will do well but everyone will have him. You don't get ahead of the field if you all have the same team!

Don't take Suarez - though I say that as I want to win.
I replaced Hernandez with Bent. I've got £5 for Suarez to score most goals, and a couple of quid on Bent being in the top 4 goal scorers.
