I've tended to categorically root against any Los Angelos teams but I don't really care about that. I do still root for the underdog though, so go Magic!

As for baseball, here here for Randy Johnson, who just got his 300th win. Wins are a meaningless statistic for a pitcher, but he's reached a level of meaninglessness few reach these days.

I'll agree that wins are an over-rated stat for pitchers, but they are hardly meaningless.

They're the only important stat for any team, but they're simply a perk for the pitcher. A nice psychological bonus, something to focus effort on, but not really indicative of the performance of the pitcher. There aren't any perfect stats for pitching, but I'd say a combination of ERA and Innings Pitched are the main keys to evaluating performance (hits and walks allowed, even strikeouts can be a predictor of future performance).

As for the NBA finals, score one brutal victory for the lakers. Kobe had a Lebron type score of 40 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds.
