Goodbye, Land of the Asur.

#1 Post by Arondight »

EDIT: Holy Jesus on a Pogo stick, this ended up being a lot longer than expected. It's supposed to be three paragraphs...-_- Either way, read on if you want to hear the nonsensical last ramblings of that one girl who raved about Caradryan. This ended up being a curious mix of fiction and much random gushing about various things.

A lone elf stared at the edge of the lake. Its waves quietly beckoning to her as she stood there, Arondight gleaming in her hand. Moonlight pierced through the shadows, dancing about the woods and enveloping her in a fey light.

What a waste, she thought. To throw a perfectly good sword away like this...

Mm, after lurking around a bit on the forums, I realized that I can't just disappear without a trace. You guys deserve a fond farewell, at the very least. So, I might as well pop in and say goodbye, even though I hate drama. But at the same time, it wouldn't do you guys justice if I didn't list at least a few of you by name, because well, you are pretty awesome at that.

With a grunt, she threw the sword into the water. To her great surprise, a white hand appeared and lightly clasped Arondight's hilt. The sword burned with an ethereal light as a line of runes whirled faintly on the flat of the blade, and if she squinted a bit, she could just make out the letters...

You may have heard me complain about things "not being the same." I suppose this is really because after my rude awakening to what some members of wargaming can behave. I never really got over that - have an entire army decimated just like that, when after a few months of hard work went into it. It's just something discouraging and well, it hurts a fair bit. And I confess, I can't keep on going. It was likely never my intention to keep on going any more, but at least, the community here was encouraging, and supported me in what way they could.

I hung around the forums, and it could be said that the campaign kept me going for a while. But already, my interests faded.

You guys have helped me a lot with my various modeling and tactica questions, and I really wanted to do something for the community. And now, with the campaign over, I can smile at the fact that I've left a bit of myself behind.

A list of notes, in no particular order: FVC (We'll continue that discussion later, perhaps. If anything, I'm obliged to continue the Bretonnian morality discussion at the Round Table JUST because ...honor says so), the rest of that group who hung around the Culture section (Which includes Lathian), Musashi (Sun Tzu reborn), DeMy (She hates this nickname, but she's almost like my dark twin, and is completely awesome on top of that), Si'anelle (who I wish I could have been), Paraic (You better stay manly >_>), Luna (Same as Paraic. You guys have turned into memes for manliness and bravery in my personal book - ask at some point how that came about), Rammy (Your rambliness rubbed off, I think...not that I'm complaining), and countless more.

To my readers, who read the Inquirer/Journal of a Ragtag High Elf Army: I really appreciate your comments, and I apologize that there won't be any more updates.
To DeMy: Keep them in line, will you?
To Bob, especially: It appears I was unable to complete the backstory for Thoronthol after all - I have overextended myself. I'm sorry.

Slowly, the hand withdrew. As the light from the lake faded, everything was covered in a serene darkness. A clean breeze blew across the clearing, enveloping the land in its lighthearted embrace.

I can't mention everyone, because otherwise, this would be ridiculously long. But trust me, if you posted around the forums on a regular basis, chances are, I will remember something good about you.

So, then, farewell. Good luck and good skill!

The elf nodded. It's what her mistress would have wanted.

There's no need to reply here, unless you absolutely feel the urge to do so. I would prefer that this post sink deep into the forum, rather than having it being bumped. You reading it is enough for me. I do not expect any replies.

Gone.

Gone? How do you mean?

Gone, but not gone. She sleeps yonder - in those waters. And there she shall remain until Ulthuan needs her once more.

Wait, what, someone crushed her army? Why wasn't I informed.

I kinda liked Arondight, even though she was a Christian nutter.

And does this mean I can post her mugshot in the Picture Thread?

Best of luck and take care. Seems like she won't be taking a spot in TiT Andy. ;)

So do we start a silly five word game or something in this thread to keep it alive, or are the mods gonna sticky it yet?

I could sticky this, but I don't really want to. Not until she comes back, anyway.
As she inevitably will.

There is no reason to sticky this thread. We get threads when people try and leave frequently. This one gets treated no different. If it wanders off topic, it'll be locked, same as any other thread.
