EoT magic, multiple wizards with same lore

#1 Post by Ceridan »

Are we still bound by the rule of multiple wizards not being able to know the same spell twice per army?

Example:

I have 4 wizards with the Lore of Light. Can they all know Banishment thanks to being Loremasters of their lore? Or would 1 know Banishment and the rest stuck with "only" the signature spell?

8th edition rules for generating spells are no longer used. Every wizard knows all the spells from their chosen lore.
Enjoy spamming S7 Banishments backed up by multiple Pha's protection on your own. Preferably all the mages go into a cavalry unit with the BotWD. Fun, fun, fun (not sure of ironic or not)!

Can you stack spells? As in could you cast Flesh to Stone on the same unit multiple times to get T10 Elves?

Just like you could always stack Wildform.

Thats how I ended up with a T1 Steam Tank the other day, Withering FTW!

Withering is remains in play though isn't it? So if you cast it again when already in play the original casting ceases.

Or are we talking about the skaven version?

Actually, it doesn't end when you cast it again. You can't recast it normally, though you are allowed to end it at any time and cast it again. Normally this would be the same effect. In the End Times, however, there are only 3 conditions where a spell cannot be recast (ET spell, 15+ spell, failed attempts earlier in the phase). This IMO replaces the limit on Remains in Play spells described in the BRB.

I disagree. I believe RiP spells will end when recast (by the same wizard). I see nothing in the EoT rules to change this.

Unlike normal spells, which can only be attempted once per phase, RiP spells can only be cast if they don't already have an effect in play at the time. It's an entirely different restriction. So yes, you could cast it a second time in the same phase (using the EoT rules), but you would only get the second casting's effect. Unless you have multiple wizards casting it of course!

Where does it say the effect will cease when you cast the spell again?

A wizard must cancel a RiP effect before attempting the spell again.

What are you quoting? The "Remains in Play Spells" on page 36?
